India Urges Restraint Amid Rising Iran-Gulf Tensions, Issues Advisories for Nationals

New Delhi— India on Saturday expressed deep concern over escalating tensions in Iran and the Gulf region, calling for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts while issuing safety advisories for Indian nationals across affected countries.
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urged all parties to avoid further escalation and safeguard civilian lives.
“India is deeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians. Dialogue and diplomacy should be pursued to de-escalate tensions and address underlying issues. Sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected,” the statement read.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Indian missions in the region are in close contact with nationals and have issued appropriate advisories, asking citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to local security guidance.
The Embassy of India in Tehran advised Indian nationals in Iran to exercise utmost caution, avoid unnecessary movement, and remain indoors as far as possible. The embassy also urged citizens to monitor news updates, maintain situational awareness, and stay in touch through emergency contact channels.
In Qatar, the Embassy of India in Doha issued an advisory asking Indian nationals to take due precautions and follow updates from local authorities. The embassy relayed emergency alerts advising residents to stay away from military sites and remain indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Similarly, the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai said they continue to function normally while urging Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates to avoid unnecessary travel, remain vigilant, and follow safety instructions issued by UAE authorities. Emergency helplines and WhatsApp numbers have been activated for assistance.
The developments follow remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who said early Saturday that American forces were carrying out a “massive and ongoing” military operation targeting Iran’s missile capabilities.
As the regional situation remains fluid, New Delhi reiterated its call for diplomacy, emphasizing the need to prevent further instability in a region critical to global energy supplies and home to millions of Indian expatriates. (Source: IANS)
