FRAMINHAM, MA—LearnQuest Academy of Music will host a free Adventurous Indian Classical Saxophone Collaboration concert on April 7 in Framingham, MA. Artists are: Sumanth Swaminathan, Phil Scarff, Amit Kavthekar and Gaurish Chandrashekhar.

LearnQuest Academy of Music, a non-profit institution that provides formal instruction in Indian classical and light music, will host its flagship 12th Annual Music Conference and Festival on April 14, 15 and 16th at Regis College in Weston, MA.
On April 7, New York City-based South Indian classical saxophone maestro Sumanth Swaminathan joins North Indian classical saxophonist Phil Scarff, tabla player Amit Kavthekar, and mridangam master Gaurish Chandrashekhar for an adventurous Karnatak-Hindustani jugalbandi concert.
The concert offers meditative ragas, intricate Indian rhythms, soaring flights of melodic exploration and percussion fireworks. This adventurous collaboration explores an exciting new approach to Hindustani-Karnatak collaboration while respecting these centuries-old art forms.
Saxophonist Sumanth Swaminathan was trained by the legendary Kadri Gopalnath. His appearances include Carnatic Music Association of North America, Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, Thyagaraja Festival (Salt Lake City), Sruti (Philadelphia), Sankat Mochan Festival (Varanasi, India), and Shenandoah University.
Tabla player Amit Kavthekar has thrilled audiences throughout the US, India, Australia, Japan, and Thailand. He has performed with Shivkumar Sharma, Jasraj, Shahid Parvez, Ashish Khan, Kushal Das, Zakir Hussain, and more.
Mridangam master Gaurish Chandrashekhar performs frequently throughout New England, accompanying well known visiting artists, and thrilling audiences with his percussive virtuosity. He is LearnQuest music faculty where he teaches South Indian music. Here is the list of artists and instruments they will play:
