CAMBRIDGE, MA—The Triveni School of Dance, one of the oldest schools of Indian dance in New England, will present its 40th annual recital, featuring 316 dancers aged 5 to 55 and accompanied by a live orchestra on Oct. 23 in Cambridge, MA.
The annual recital will feature a diverse program of students and showcase three styles of Indian classical dance: Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi. The event will be held at MIT Kresge Auditorium in Cambridge. The admission to the event is free.
Triveni is the only school in the United States that offers classes in all three major styles of Indian classical dance.
Neena Gulati, founder of the Triveni School of Dance, said at least 1,000 people are expected to attend the annual event, which will also celebrate Gulati being named the 2016 Dr. Michael Shannon Dance Champion by the Boston Dance Alliance.
Boston Dance Alliance recognizes one dancer each year from New England area, who has excelled in her field and contributed to the cultural environment of Massachusetts.
