TiE Boston Launches TiE Boston Foundation With a $500,000 Fund

BOSTON—TiE Boston, one of the region’s largest business organizations supporting the Massachusetts entrepreneurial ecosystem, has launched TiE Boston Foundation with a goal of $500,000 fund, TiE Boston President Nilanjana Bhowmik announced at the packed TiE Boston annual gala Thursday night.

She said the TiE Boston foundation, which has already raised three-fifth of the stated goal in a few days, will support and expand the TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE), an award-winning program that brings together high school aged youth to ideate, form teams and build a viable business in six months.

The foundation will help expand TYE and make it more accessible to a larger population in New England, Ms. Bhowmik said, adding that the foundation will be able to reach its half-million-dollar goal soon.

Ms. Bhowmik said that about 400 high school aged youth during the last 10 years.

The black-tie gala, wgich was Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Four Seasons Boston, also honor 14 recipients of its 2018 Entrepreneurship Awards. Serial technology entrepreneur Amar Sawhney was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Founded in 1997 by entrepreneurs who immigrated from the Indus region, TiE Boston champions inclusion in innovation by blending the fundamentals of entrepreneurship with traditional Indian values that place importance on community, mentorship and long-term relationships.
