Xiaomi India head plays Santa, offers flagship phone to Big B

New Delhi– After superstar Amitabh Bachchan sent a panic tweet on Thursday about his Samsung smartphone going kaput for a while, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain joined the conversation, offering Big B to switch over to a Xiaomi device.

Bachchan, who endorses rival brand OnePlus in India, tweeted in the wee hours asking for help to revive his Samsung Galaxy S9 device.

“HELP !! Samsung S9 not functioning .. Samsung logo is on front screen, and is blinking again and again .. nothing else happens .. changed it .. let it be .. tried to close it does not close either .. HELP … someone please guide me as to what I should de..,” the actor tweeted.

Samsung officials got in touch with the actor immediately and resolved his concern. Bachchan later tweeted that the issue was dealt with and his Samsung device was up and running.

However, the tweet went viral, and Xioami’s India head joined the thread.

“Dear Amit Ji. It’s time to switch phones. You can maybe try the most loved technology brand in India. Happy to send a flagship phone to you, if you want,” Jain tweeted.

Anusha Dandekar designs lingerie line, adds fun to it

Mumbai– Popular TV host and video jockey (VJ) Anusha Dandekar has lent her creativity to a lingerie line, which she says is fun and expressive.

“To me, fashion is about embracing my individual style. Lingerie has always been an important part of fashion and lingerie has been a very important part of my wardrobe since the very beginning.

“With this collaboration, I really want to show that lingerie can be just as fun and expressive as clothes even if it’s not always on view, and therefore it’s been a dream for many many years to have my own lingerie line,” Anusha said in a statement.

She is launching it in association with PrettySecrets, a brand that she feels is synonymous with her own vibe.

My wife always gives 100% to whatever she does: Ranveer

Mumbai– Actor Ranveer Singh says he is extremely proud of his wife and actress Deepika Padukone who always gives her 100 per cent to whatever she does.

This weekend, Ranveer will be seen as a guest on Zee TV’s “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” show.

While shooting for the episode, Ranveer was left impressed with contestant Aishwarya Pandit’s performance. She sang “Nagada sang dhol” from the 2013 film “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela”, starring Ranveer and Deepika.

As he reminisced the days of shooting for the song, the newlywed spoke highly about Deepika, read a statement.

“This song brings back so many memories. I had barely been introduced to Deepika back then and it was just limited to an attraction at that point in time. When I saw her perform to ‘Nagada…’, things changed, and I started respecting her even more as an artiste,” Ranveer said.

“I am extremely proud of my wife who always gives her 100 per cent to whatever she does. I remember, that year she had five blockbuster films back-to-back. Hard work always pays off,” he added.

We’e working on second season of ‘Mirzapur’: Farhan Akhtar

Mumbai– Producer Farhan Akthar is feeling happy as his last production venture “Mirzapur” has been appreciated by the audience. He has revealed that makers of the show have already started working for a second season of the show.

Farhan interacted with the media at the success party of “Mirzapur” along with Rasika Dugal, Elli AvRam, Pankaj Tripathi, Anangsha Biswas, Richa Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Ali Fazal on Wednesday in Mumbai.

“Mirzapur”, backed by Excel Entertainment, revolves around drugs, guns and lawlessness. It also depicts gang rivalry and crime in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.

Farhan said: “I am feeling really happy. It’s the second show which we have created with Amazon Prime Video. Our earlier collaboration ‘Inside Edge’ was a successful web series and now ‘Mirzapur’ is getting more success than that. So it is really nice thing and we are here to celebrate.”

Asked if they have planned to create the second season of “Mirzapur”, he said: “Yes, of course. At the end of the show, viewers might have got an idea that there is scope for season 2. So, we are working on that. Hopefully, very soon we will start shooting for it.”

Abhimanyu Dassani finds it encouraging to attend different fests

Macau– Actor Abhimanyu Dassani is here for the screening of his debut movie “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota” at the International Film Festival and Awards – Macao. He feels grateful for “this humbling yet encouraging experience” of attending different festivals.

The Vasan Bala directorial had also won Grolsch People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award at the acclaimed Toronto International Film Festival this year.

Kapil Sharma, Ginni Chatrath marry in Jalandhar

Jalandhar– Star comedian Kapil Sharma married his lady love Ginni Chatrath here at a traditional Punjabi ceremony, which was enlivened by popular singer Gurdas Maan.

Kapil made a late entry at the wedding venue, which was done up in red and gold.

The bride stuck to the traditional for her attire, and accessorised her look with maatha patti, nath and statement earrings and a layered neckpiece.

Kapil sported a green sherwani, with string adding some drama to his look. His triple kalgi on the turban and sword grabbed attention, as did his bearded look.

He shared their first wedding picture himself via Instagram, with an emoticon with folded hands in gratitude for the love and blessings from all over.

The venue had ample security considering Kapil is an established name in the industry and has a huge fan following. Invitations to the wedding itself had a barcode for entry.

Mumbai– Actor Emraan Hashmi, who is gearing up for his forthcoming release “Cheat India”, has said every student and parent must watch it as it brings to the fore the irregularities present in our education system.

Emraan was interacting with the media during the promotion of the film on Wednesday here, when he said everyone should know what is “happening in our system. It is our plea as the makers of the film that, we bring about changes in our education system as soon as possible so that, we can have a progressive outlook.”

“It is based on our faulty and fractured education system and we all have been affected by that, be it our parents or me, as I am parent of a child.

“In this education system, we emphasise a lot on rote learning which doesn’t have any benefit in real and practical world.

“Apart from that our education system is being weakened by lot of middlemen, scamsters and fraudsters.”

In the film, Emraan plays Rakesh, who is heading a nexus where he gives merit-seats to not deserving students to earn money. (IANS)
