ATLANTA, GA—Ketan Shah, a Georgia businessman and director of Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, has allegedly swindled about $750,000 in Super Bowl ticket scam, cheating his own mother who gave him $36,000 for Super Bowl tickets, according to news reports.

Upon the defrauding news, executive committee of the Georgia Indo American Chamber of Commerce, suspended Mr. Shah until investigations have been fully investigated.

“The Executive Committee of the Georgia Indo American Chamber of Commerce has suspended Board of Director member Ketan Shah due to certain recent criminal allegations made against him until the allegations have been fully investigated,” GIACC said in a statement posted on its website. “GIACC and its officers and directors have no connection to the alleged personal actions taken by Mr. Shah and the Board remains committed to the mission of the organization.”

Quoting police, Fox News reported that Ketan Shah allegedly swindled victims, including his mom, out of a total of $750,000 in Super Bowl ticket orders.

“A search was underway Friday for an Atlanta-area businessman accused of swindling NFL fans out of more than $750,000 in Super Bowl ticket orders. The alleged victims reportedly include his own mother, whom authorities say gave him money but never received tickets to Sunday’s big game between the L.A. Rams and New England Patriots,” Fox News reported.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Mr. Shah, of Lawrenceville, Ga., allegedly scammed at least five victims in Gwinnett County, then vanished with the money and without delivering the tickets, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

The TV station quoted Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Wilbert Rundles as saying that Shah’s mother told police that her son left with $36,000 she gave him for Super Bowl tickets.

“The money totals well over three-quarters of a million dollars,” Rundles told FOX 5. “It is pretty surprising when you would take advantage of a friend or family members, but your own mother? It’s quite troubling.”

Mr. Shah reportedly owns a Digital Xpress printing business in Norcross, where his wife Bhavi Shah told Atlanta’s WSB-TV that she does not know where her husband is, according to news reports.

Mr. Shah hasn’t yet been criminally charged because the Super Bowl has not been played yet, but after the game, he faces numerous charges of theft by deception, police spokesman Rundles told FOX 5. Click here to read the original Fox article.
