Indore– In a dramatic turn following the Meghalaya Police investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, the victim’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, has been identified as the alleged mastermind behind the killing. As the chilling details unfold, Sonam’s own family has publicly disowned her and is now demanding the death penalty if she is found guilty.
On Wednesday, Sonam’s brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, visited the home of Raja’s parents in Indore to personally apologize for his sister’s role in the crime. Speaking to reporters after meeting Raja’s mother, Govind said, “We will boycott her completely. No one from our family will visit her or assist her during court proceedings in Meghalaya. If the court finds her guilty, we hope she receives the death penalty for what she’s done.”
Govind, who was accompanied by Raja’s brother Vipin during the visit, also addressed questions about Sonam’s alleged affair with Raj Kushwaha, one of the four accused in the case. “I only learned about their relationship through the media. Raj was an employee in our family business. As far as I knew, she used to tie a rakhi to him,” he said.
Commenting on Jitendra Raghuvanshi, another suspect in the case, Govind acknowledged their family ties. “Jitendra is my cousin. He too worked in our business,” he confirmed.
According to police, Raj Kushwaha, an accountant at the family’s furniture sheet unit, had been in a relationship with Sonam for several months leading up to the murder. Investigators believe this relationship may have played a central role in the motive behind the crime.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues to progress. On Wednesday, a joint team from Meghalaya and Indore Police searched the home of Vishal Chauhan, another suspect, and recovered clothing believed to have been worn during the murder. “Based on Chauhan’s statements, we recovered the pants and shirt he wore at the time of the crime,” said Indore Assistant Commissioner of Police Poonamchandra Yadav. The clothing will be sent to a forensic lab to test for bloodstains.
Indore’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajesh Dandotia, confirmed that a 12-member team from Meghalaya Police has departed for Shillong with the four accused—Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—after securing their transit custody from an Indore court.
The investigation into Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder continues to reveal disturbing details, with law enforcement working to piece together the events that led to his death. (Source: IANS)
