MUMBAI– Priyanka Chopra Jonas fondly reminisced about her collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the iconic 2013 song Ram Chahe Leela from Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Reflecting on how she joined the project, Priyanka said the decision wasn’t easy at the time, but her admiration for Bhansali as a filmmaker guided her. “His creative mind, his nostalgic stories usually over incredible food, the conversations of art and music to dance… the beauty of the yesteryears but also what the future holds. And then he played the song… and I knew I was her,” she shared.
Praising the entire team behind the track, she added, “Under Sanjay sir’s guidance, Ravi Varman’s cinematography shone, and Vishnu Deva was magic! Him and I would rehearse during lunch breaks every day to perfect the dance sequences. This brings back such great memories.”
The film, an Indian retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, was a box-office hit, becoming the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2013.
Priyanka also collaborated with Bhansali in the 2014 biopic Mary Kom, where he served as producer and editor.
Looking ahead, Priyanka will star in Season 2 of Citadel, which has been delayed to spring 2026. She is also set to headline SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film SSMB29, marking her first on-screen pairing with Tollywood star Mahesh Babu. (Source: IANS)
