BOSTON-Local dancer and dance teacher Neena Gulati will present a dance drama “Dasavatar: The Ten Incarnations of Vishnu” on May 5 at Boston University Dance Theatre in Boston.

Proceeds will go to AIM for Seva, a Free Student Homes that provides rural and tribal Indian children boarding, lodging, health care, and extra- curricular resources to enable them to complete high school.

“In times of darkness and evil, when the last traces of hope seem lost, Vishnu sends himself forth, age after age,” Ms. Gulati said in a statement. “He descends to destroy evil and protect goodness. As the world evolves and becomes more complex, so too does Vishnu. Taking the image of animal, man, or savior, Vishnu appears in the darkest hour to restore light.”

The Dasavatar will be presented by Ms. Gulati and her Triveni Ensemble. The show will take place May 4, 2018 at 8:00 PM and May 5, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Boston University Dance Theatre, located at 915 Commonwealth Avenue. Tickets and more information can be found at trivenidance.org.

Born in New Delhi, India and beginning her dance training in the classical Indian form of bharatanatyam at the age of 4, Neena Gulati pioneered the teaching of classical Indian dance forms in the Boston area.

The Triveni School of Dance trains over 250 dancers every week in three classical Indian forms bharatanatyam, kuchipudi, and odissi and is dedicated to social awareness and the celebration of cultural diversity. The Triveni Ensemble regularly performs benefits for charities
