NATICK, MA–On March 23, 2024, the LearnQuest Classical Music and Dance Festival kicks off with an extraordinary lineup of performances that promise to captivate audiences.
From 3:00 pm onwards, the Common Street Spiritual Center Sanctuary in Natick, MA, will resonate with enchanting melodies by budding artists and acclaimed musicians:
Nishad Bakre: Renowned for his soulful renditions in Hindustani vocal music, Nishad Bakre mesmerizes audiences with his rich and emotive performances. A disciple of the eminent Hindustani vocal maestro Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Shri Bakre’s profound understanding of classical ragas, coupled with impeccable vocal control, makes him a stalwart in the realm of Indian classical music. He will be accompanied by Anant Joshi on Harmonium and Abhay Datar on Tabla.
Vikaasa Ramdas: A virtuoso on the mandolin and a disciple of the legendary mandolin maestro Vidwan U. Srinivas, Vikaasa Ramdas brings a unique flair to classical music with his innovative interpretations and masterful technique. His dynamic performances, marked by intricate melodies and rhythmic intricacies, showcase his deep-rooted passion for the art form. He will be accompanied by Hirak Modi on Harmonium, Sriramakrishna Rekapalli on Mridangam and Rohit Subramaniam on Morsing.
Anirban Dasgupta: With his mastery over the sarod, Anirban Dasgupta captivates listeners with his expressive playing and intricate improvisations. The son and disciple of the eminent sarod Maestro the late Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta, Anirban’s performances, characterized by lyrical melodies and intricate ornamentation, reflect his dedication to preserving and enriching the classical tradition of his lineage. He will be accompanied by Mir Naqibul Islam on Tabla.
Joining them are students of local Carnatic music teachers Durga Krishnan, Tara Bangalore, and Aparna Balaji. These first-generation Indian Americans offering a glimpse into the future of classical music are Amritha Pai and Mahathi Athreya on Vocal, Pranav Swaroop on Violin, Sahana Venkatesh on Veena, and Maheedhar Athreya on Mridangam.
