Vikrant Massey loves working with female directors
Mumbai– Actor Vikrant Massey’s last few projects have been with women directions, and one of the biggest movie he has signed is with Meghna Gulzar. He says he loves working under female directors.
In 2018, Vikrant did three movies with woman directors — Zoya Akhtar’s “Dil Dhadakne Do”, Alankrita Shrivastava’s “Lipstick Under My Burkha” and Seema Pahwa’s “Pind Daan”.
This year, he has two in the pipeline — Shrivastava’s “Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare”, for which shooting is on, and Meghna’s “Chaapaak”, which will start from March.
He feels a difference in women’s perspective.
“From my experience I can affirm that I don’t really know how the women see the world like, but it seems to be quite different than how men do,” Vikrant said in a statement to IANS:A
“One thing is for sure that women are far more compassionate, empathetic, sensitive and emotional in comparison to men.
Rakesh Roshan is up and about, says son Hrithik
Mumbai– Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan is up and about after undergoing surgery for an early stage of throat cancer, his actor son Hrithik Roshan has said.
Hrithik shared a health update on his father as he spent time with the 69-year-old in a hospital here on his birthday.
On Thursday, Hrithik tweeted a photograph of himself and his father along with the family members.
Rakesh, who underwent surgery after he was diagnosed with early stage of squamous cell carcinoma on January 8, was seen with a Ryles tube.
“And he’s up and about. Power of love! Thank you all for being with him and helping him power through. Today was a great day,” Hrithik captioned the image.
Rinku Karmarkar to enter ‘Ishqbaaaz’
Mumbai– Actress Rinku Karmarkar will make a cameo appearance on the show “Ishqbaaaz – Pyaar Ki Ek Dhinchaak Kahani”.
The show’s storyline focuses on the flamboyant star Shivaansh Singh Oberoi (played by actor Nakuul Mehta) and the no non-sense police officers Aditi Deshmukh (actress Manjiri Pupala).
Rinku will be seen entering the show as an antagonist, who is set to create a stir in the lives of Shivaansh and his family.
“I play Angad’s (actor Sanket Choksey) aunt on the show who is sure to turn tables on the Oberoi family. I always look for opportunities to experiment with different characters on screen and Bua’s role was the perfect offering,” Rinku said in a statement.
“I am thrilled to be back on the small screen after a gap of one and a half years with such an interesting character. I hope the viewers shower me with the same love and appreciation for this role, as they always have,” she added.
The actress has starred in several popular TV shows, including “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki”.
Infrastructure in India is weaker than in foreign countries, says Satish Kaushik
Mumbai– Actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik has said infrastructure in India is still weak as compared to foreign countries, which is one of the main hurdles to shoot films in Indian locations.
Satish Kaushik was addressing the media at Global Film Tourism Conclave 2019 along with Ramesh Sippy on Friday in Mumbai.
“I am really grateful to receive an award at Global Film Tourism Conclave 2019. I feel relationship between films and tourism has been going strong over the years,” said Kaushik.
“Wherever we shoot our film, whether in India or abroad, it becomes a part of memory. Indian film industry has shot films all over the world and we get a lot of benefits and facilities while shooting our films in foreign locations. This change we have started observing in India as well.”
However, Kaushik said Indian infrastructure is weak as compared to foreign countries. “I always felt that we don’t have dearth of beautiful locations in our country, but we still don’t have proper infrastructure. Because of that, most of the times, we are not able to reach those locations.
Ankit Siwach learns to play instrument for TV show
Mumbai– Actor Ankit Siwach took a few sessions to learn how to play stringed instrument Surbahar before shooting a scene for the show “Manmohini”.
He is currently seen as Ram aka Rana Sa in the fantasy drama. There will be flashbacks of Ram’s previous birth and his present day. He will be seen playing Surbahar and Mohini dancing to its tune.
“As Rana Sa, I am required to do a lot of ‘princely’ things and one of the recent sequences required me to learn a classical instrument. I always try to give my best, and everyone on the set has constantly motivated me to perform better,” Ankit said in a statement.
“This is the first time that I am playing an instrument in real life and the experience has been phenomenal. Filming this sequence was tough for me as the posture, synchronisation of hands and background score needed to be perfect. I practised for hours to get the shot right,” he added.
Filmmakers should be celebrated, not suspected: Ashvin Kumar
New Delhi– Filmmaker Ashvin Kumar, who still awaits a censor certificate for the release of his film “No Fathers In Kashmir”, says censorship has no place in modern democracy.
The filmmaker, son of celebrated veteran fashion designer Ritu Kumar, is himself an Oscar nominated talent. He has been struggling to get a U/A certificate for his new movie.
“Censorship has no place in modern democracy, filmmakers should be celebrated not suspected, it’s a colonial anachronism in the era of internet. While harassment may not be intentional or personal or political, it’s built into system which makes it tough to give benefit of doubt,” Ashvin tweeted on Friday.
“No Fathers in Kashmir” is a love story between two 16-year-olds whose fathers have disappeared in Kashmir with no certainty of their return.
In December, Ashvin had said that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) — after an inordinate delay of nearly 90 days and of giving him no clarity on what it was finding objectionable in the film — came up with a list of cuts that he and his team objected to as “the cuts proposed were based neither on reality nor on law”.
