Great to see films on women sports stars: Richa Chadha
Mumbai– Actress Richa Chadha, who will essay a kabaddi player with Kangana Ranaut in Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s “Panga”, finds it great that a number of movies are being written about women sports stars.
Richa has begun prepping for the movie, which will be one of the most physically challenging roles she has played in her Bollywood career. The film, also starring Pankaj Tripathi, will be about women kabaddi players and the trials they face.
“It’s great to see such a great number of films like ‘Panga’ being written on female sport athletes. Its important to have representation and such diversity being shown on-screen. To show such stories helps create awareness both for the amazing women we have in the sports arena who are doing so well internationally and it also helps increase the popularity for the sport,” Richa said in a statement.
“It’s great to see filmmakers like Ashwini Iyer Tiwari who are etching such roles for women that shows them as a figure of strength and vigour,” she added.
#MeToo best clean up act to happen: Neha Dhupia
New Delhi– Actress Neha Dhupia says the ongoing #MeToo wave in India is the best clean up act that could have happened to Bollywood and the country in a long time.
“I think the #MeToo movement is the best clean up act that could have happened to our industry and our country in a long time. I’m glad that more and more women are talking about it and they have my full support,” Neha told IANS in an interview from Mumbai.
“It is high time, and people are raising their voice against such issues. There are such issues that exist and I am are glad that people are talking about it,” she added.
The #MeToo movement in India sparked when Tanushree Dutta came forward to renew allegations against Nana Patekar over an incident that happened in 2008. Since then, a number of women have come forward with complaints against names like Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Kapoor, Kailash Kher and Sajid Khan.
Aamir had a ball dancing with Big B
Mumbai– Actor Aamir Khan says he had a great time not just sharing screen space with veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan for the first time in “Thugs of Hindostan”, but also shaking a leg with him in the film’s song “Vashmalle”.
The song was unveiled on Tuesday.
“I was so excited to do a song with Mr. Bachchan, that for the first time in my career I have enjoyed dancing! Had a ball,” Aamir tweeted.
Composed by acclaimed music directors Ajay-Atul and sung by singers Sukhwinder Singh and Vishal Dadlani, “Vashmalle” is a fun song that features Amitabh and Aamir in a fun avatar. They can be seen getting drunk during the celebrations and then breaking out to dance with high energy.
The track has been choreographed by ace choreographer and actor Prabhudheva.
Vijay Krishna Acharya, who has directed the film, said in a statement: “It is amazing that we could write a suitable moment in the film that sees these two icons of Indian cinema shake a leg with each other and the song will stand out because of their infectious energy and camaraderie.”
Also featuring actors Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, “Thugs of Hindostan” will hit the screens on November 8.
Haven’t got anything without a fight in my life: Kangana
Mumbai– Actress Kangana Ranaut says she has never got anything in her life without fighting for it, and she would not want her children to live the way she has.
Kangana spoke to the media at the wrap-up party of her film “Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi” here on Monday.
Asked whether she feels there are any similarities in Rani Lakshmibai and in her own personality, the actress said: “I think her life was very tragic and she struggled a lot in her life. It’s not the kind of life which you will wish for somebody you like or you love at all.
“Similarly, I wouldn’t want my children to have the kind of life I have had. I don’t know why but I had to fight literally for everything since I am born and that is the only similarity that I have with her (Rani Lakshmibai). I haven’t got anything without a fight in my life but I am neither proud nor ashamed of it.
“I am just okay with the way my life is, but if you ask me that do I want this for my children or for whom I love, then my answer would be ‘No’.”
Meena Nathani in ‘Main Maayke…’
Mumbai– Actress Meena Nathani has joined the cast of the show “Main Maayke Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo”, which also stars Neelu Vaghela.
In the show, Satya Devi (Neelu) constantly interferes in her daughter Jaya’s (Srishti Jain) life which creates comic and dramatic situations in her married life with Samar (Namish Taneja).
The show will soon witness the entry of Jiji Bua, played by Meena, who has acted in movies like “Well Done Abba”.
Jiji Bua is strict. She loves Jaya, but hates the fact that Satya interferes in her marital life.
“Jiji Bua has different shades. She is loving as well as strict,” Meena said in a statement. (IANS)
