Will soon make a special announcement, says Farhan Akhtar
Mumbai– Acclaimed filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar, who celebrated his 45th birthday on Wednesday, teased the audience by saying he would soon make an official announcement about his forthcoming project.
Farhan Akthar was interacting with the media at the trailer launch of his forthcoming production venture ‘Gully Boy’ along with film’s actor Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, filmmaker sister Zoya Akhtar and co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani on Wednesday in Mumbai.
Actor Ranveer Singh who was in his usual element during trailer launch of ‘Gully Boy’ rapped iconic ‘Tum Jiyo Hazaaron Saal’ birthday song on Farhan Akhtar’s birthday.
Akthar has directed some memorable films such as ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Lakshya’ ‘Don’ and ‘Don 2’. He has also been a part of some memorable films as an actor like ‘Rock On!!”, ‘Luck by Chance’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Dil Dhadkane Do’.
There have been reports that Akthar will soon direct the next installment of his successful franchise ‘Don’ with Shah Rukh Khan. But he didn’t divulge that whether his upcoming project will be his directorial venture or acting venture.
“I have got ‘The Sky is Pink’ as an actor which is being directed by Shonali Bose and there is going to be very special announcement, but this is not the time and the platform to announce it. The audience will hear about it very soon and I hope that excites them,” said Akhtar.
Just wanted to tell my story to people: Manisha Koirala
Mumbai– Actress Manisha Koirala, who has penned a book titled “Healed”, says she just wanted to tell her story of her battle with cancer to people through her writing.
Manisha, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 went in for treatment and was declared cancer-free by mid-2014.
Talking about her journey in overcoming the disease, Manisha said: “I feel it was a kind of gift for me from life. Whenever we face any difficulties, we get upset about it but I feel difficulties comes in our life to teach us something that we didn’t knew about ourselves. It gives something good in return.”
“When I was diagnosed with Cancer that time, I was traumatised but when I look back, I feel it has given me new perspective to see life in a different light and lot of hope about many things in life. It also made me realize that how important my life and health is to me.”
Manisha launched “Healed : How Cancer Gave Me a New Life” along with Mahesh Bhatt, Gulshan Grover, Anupam Kher, Imtiaz Ali, Amruta Fadnavis, Deepti Naval, Rekha and Dia Mirza on Tuesday in Mumbai.
Asked Manisha whether she felt emotional while writing the book, she said: “Indeed. it was because to be able to remember everything in detail and to be able to revisit those memories and stay with that was really painful. During that time, I used to feel that I will not finish writing this book. Most of the times, I felt this was a bad idea and I should not attempt writing so, many times, I stopped writing it.”
Anushka Sen to play Manikarnika on TV
Mumbai– After actress Kangana Ranaut, child artiste Anushka Sen is now all set to step into the role of Manikarnika — popularly known as Rani Laxmibai — but on the small screen.
The 16-year-old Anushka will trace the journey of the Rani of Jhansi in the upcoming Colors’ show “Khoob Ladi Mardaani – Jhansi Ki Rani”
Honoured to be a part of the show, Anushka said in a statement: “Jhansi Ki Rani is such prominent name in our nation’s history. She is a warrior that every girl can only aim to become.
“It’s an honour to get a chance to play a queen who fought many stereotypes and changed the reality of Jhansi. She showed Britishers what Indian women are made and their power to fight against all odds.”
Kangana is playing Rani Laxmibai in “Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi” in a film which will hit theatres on January 25.
Everyone has right to join narrative in public domain: Mahesh Bhatt
Mumbai– Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt reacted to the ongoing controversy over the release of “The Accidental Prime Minister” and said that human beings have the right to join the narrative which already exists in the public domain.
A court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on Tuesday ordered the lodging of a FIR against actors Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna and 15 others associated with “The Accidental Prime Minister”, based on the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Reacting to that development, Bhatt said: “I condemn that act because if you term your society as a liberal society, then every human being has the right to join the narrative which already exists in public domain.
“If Anupam Kher has played a role based on that narrative, then it is his right as an Indian… If you believe in freedom, then you have to criticise that act. We must give even the people whom you do not agree with the right to speak whatever they feel.”
Bhatt was interacting with the media at the launch of Manisha Koirala’s book “Healed”, along with Anupam.
Pulling Anupam’s leg, Bhatt said: “But the question is whether Anupam Kher will give me that right when I will not agree with his viewpoint.”
I feel bad when someone’s film doesn’t work: Ranveer Singh
Mumbai– For Bollywood, the year 2018 ended on a high note with the success of Ranveer Singh’s “Simmba” after films of superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan failed to make it big. Ranveer says he feels bad when someone’s film doesn’t work at the box office as everyone is a part of the same industry.
Talking about being a box office winner over ‘superstars’, Ranveer told the media here on Wednesday: “All I can say is that films I’ve worked in, they did well. It was an incredible year for me.
“I really don’t like when someone’s film doesn’t do well at the box office, because I am also part of this industry and everyone makes their living from the industry. Everyone puts in their hard work and when someone’s film doesn’t do well, I feel really bad. At the same time, when my movie does well, I feel great.”
Ranveer was speaking at the trailer launch of his next film “Gully Boy”, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, and directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Watching horror movies is addictive: Nargis Fakhri
Mumbai– Actress Nargis Fakhri, who will be seen in upcoming horror film “Amavas”, says she enjoys watching horror films as it gives a certain adrenaline rush and offers an engrossing experience.
On her interest in horror films, Nargis told IANS here: “I like supernatural horror films because it scares you, it takes you into a world where the story unfolds and things come into action… it is engrossing. Watching a horror story gets our adrenaline going and that is addictive.”
“This (‘Amavas’) is the only horror script that I have come across in the last six years so I was instantly excited,” she added.
The film also features Sachiin Joshi, Vivan Bhathena, Mona Singh and Ali Asgar.
Giving an insight into the character she plays in the film, Nargis said: “I am playing a girl who is in love with a man and she wants to go for a holiday with him to a very old property. Though there’s a fear of ghosts, since she does not believe in the existence of such an element, she convinces her man to go there.
“When they arrive there, how this girl experiences the different world of supernatural power… my character narrates that.”
Nargis started her career in Bollywood with the film “Rockstar” in 2011. She has since been seen in movies like “Madras Cafe”, “Main Tera Hero”, “Azhar” and “Housefull 3”. (IANS)
