When a fan asked Anil will he give her a chance to be like Sonam, the actor, who is here to promote “24: Season 2”, said: “Of course. Sonam is very real, ordinary, down to earth and an emotional person.

“By seeing her on the big screen or photographs, she may look like a star. She is, but she is also like every other daughter and girl. Anyone can be Sonam Kapoor.”

He also heaped praise on his son Harshvardhan Kapoor, who will make his acting debut in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s “Mirzya”.

“Harshvardhan is honest, hardworking and a little bit introvert but very sensitive. I feel that every parent should have a son like him. I never felt that he would create any problem.

“He has always thought about his work ever since he started working . What else would a parent want?” said the “Dil Dhadakne Do” star, who has another daughter named Rhea.

Madhuri, Sakshi have proved me wrong: Anil Kapoor

New Delhi–Actor-producer Anil Kapoor says that Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Sakshi Tanwar are two actors who have proved him wrong by showcasing their versatility.

The 59-year-old is set to return to the small screen with the finite TV series “24: Season 2”, also starring “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii” fame actress Sakshi. Anil shared that he was nervous about getting her on board.

“The makers asked me as a producer and as a leading actor about casting Sakshi on ’24’. I said ‘Yes. Done’. I had heard of her, seen her work and seen her play ‘aachi bahu’ (good daughter-in-law) on TV shows. So, I was nervous about her.

“But later, I was taken aback. She plays an Anti-Terrorist Unit chief. She did that with total conviction. It’s a tough role. When she acts people only concentrate on her, so I am lucky that I have less scenes with her,” Anil told reporters here during promotion of the series, which is an Indian adaptation of the popular American TV show “24”.

She isn’t the only actress who won his confidence through pure talent.

“Two actors have proved me wrong. Apart from Sakshi, it was Madhuri Dixit. We were doing two films together. In one of them, she was playing ‘aachi ladki, gao ki ladki’ (good girl, village girl). I said ‘Perfect’. In the other film called ‘Hifazat’ (released in 1987), her role was a modern one. I couldn’t imagine her playing that character.

“I was doubtful and wondered whether the casting would affect my career. Then the director convinced me by saying that if I can play different characters on screen then why can’t she. And she did a fantastic job,” he said.

As of now, he has put in all his energy and effort on “24: Season 2”, which will air on Colors from July 23 onwards.

Salman fails to appear before NCW, files response via lawyer

New Delhi– Actor Salman Khan failed to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday over his “raped woman” simile and filed a response to the commission’s notice through his lawyers, the NCW said.

“The Commission had summoned Salman Khan to appear in person on July 8, 2016, at the Commission’s office to give a satisfactory explanation on the matter. It may be noted that today Khan or his legal team has not appeared before the Commission,” NCW Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam said in a statement.

“However, the Commission has received a response from his legal team, which is currently being examined by the Commission,” she added.

The NCW had summoned Khan in connection with the actor’s remark where he compared his condition after shooting for a gruelling wrestling scene in his recently released movie “Sultan” to that of a “raped woman”.

Taking suo motu notice, the Commission on June 21 sent a notice to the actor asking him to apologise. Khan filed a response through his lawyers, which the NCW did not find satisfactory and asked him to appear before it in person on July 8.
