ANDOVER, MA—Get ready for an evening with two plays this weekend in Andover, MA: Mungerilal ke Adhure Sapne and Aadbhuture. The plays are produced by Boston-based Krossroads Performing Arts.

Here is a brief synopsis of both plays:

Mungerilal ke Adhure Sapne

Director – Amitabha Lala

“Mungerilal ke Adhure Sapne” is a compelling reimagining of a 1960s satire that unveils the absurdities of bureaucratic red tape and the influence of politics. The story centers on a celebrated poet trapped beneath a Jamun tree after a storm, highlighting the delays that arise as his plea for rescue is passed through various officials. Each layer of bureaucracy complicates the situation further, while political considerations hinder progress. This thought-provoking narrative raises questions about the history of societal norms and their conflict with ethical and moral values. It invites reflections on the profound consequences of these delays for the poet’s fate.

Aadbhuture

Director – Jayati Banerjee

A once wealthy mansion in Bengal has now left as haunted. A tragedy with the people of the house cast a shadow on the house and it is often said spirits are trapped inside. In the present day few strangers come to spend some time in the house and they have their own agendas for the stay. The various conflicts of interest create chaos and lead to an unfolding mystery in the house which had been buried for hundreds of years and the connection it builds with the present days.
