Ashland’s first grader Chaturvedi twins sing Indian, American national anthems to Mass. Senate

BOSTON–As Indian-Americans around the country celebrated India’s 67th Republic Day, Ashland twins Anvi and Tanvi Chaturvedi, first graders at Ashland’s Warren Elementary School, sang Indian and American national anthems to Massachusetts Senate.

The twins were invited by state Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, to honor India’s Republic Day on Jan. 26 by singing both the Indian and American national anthems in the Senate chambers.

The Indian Republic and its constitution was promulgated on January 26, 1950.The constitution set up India as a secular democracy with equal rights guaranteed for all its citizens, regardless of their religion, language, region or caste.
