Shekhar Ravjiani Reflects on Life Ahead of 50th Birthday, Promises Double the Effort in Next Chapter

MUMBAI– Bollywood music composer and singer Shekhar Ravjiani is preparing to celebrate his 50th birthday next month, reflecting on five decades of personal and professional experiences while promising to approach the next chapter of his life with renewed energy, ambition and dedication to music.

The acclaimed musician, best known as one half of the popular Bollywood composing duo Vishal-Shekhar, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram Thursday, expressing gratitude to his family, friends and fans for their support throughout his journey.

Ravjiani described his approaching milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the lessons, successes and challenges that have shaped his life while looking forward to new creative possibilities.

“Crazy to think that a month from now, I hit the half-century mark. To everyone who has showered me with love, stood by me, and genuinely cared along the way, Thank you! You’ve made these years special in more ways than you know,” he wrote.

The composer said he considers his first five decades a period of preparation for what lies ahead, emphasizing his determination to continue learning, creating and pursuing new opportunities.

“These 50 years have been a great warm-up. The lessons, the highs, the lows, the music, the people, the love ….all of it has brought me here. And now for the next chapter … double the effort, double the mehnat, and an even greater hunger to create, learn, grow and live.Health is good. Mind is good. Heart is great. 50, here I come. Let’s go!!”

His message reflected an optimistic outlook toward aging, with the musician emphasizing that reaching 50 represents a new beginning rather than a slowdown in his career.

Ravjiani has spent more than two decades establishing himself as one of Hindi cinema’s prominent music composers, producing numerous popular film soundtracks alongside longtime collaborator Vishal Dadlani.

Before entering the film industry, Ravjiani worked in advertising, where he composed commercial jingles and developed his musical skills.

He gained wider recognition after participating in the singing reality competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 1997, an experience that helped introduce him to a larger audience.

He subsequently partnered with Dadlani to form Vishal-Shekhar, beginning a collaboration that would become one of Bollywood’s most successful music partnerships.

The duo made their film debut with Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi in 1999 and went on to compose music for a wide range of commercially successful Hindi films.

Their film credits include Jhankaar Beats, Dus, Bluffmaster, Om Shanti Om, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dostana, Chennai Express, Bang Bang!, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan.

Their compositions have helped define the sound of mainstream Bollywood music across multiple generations, blending contemporary musical influences with traditional Indian melodies.

Beyond composing, Ravjiani has also established himself as a playback singer, lending his voice to several popular Hindi film songs.

His notable tracks include “Tujhe Bhula Diya,” “Bin Tere,” “Meherbaan” and “Zehnaseeb,” which have contributed to his reputation as both a composer and vocalist.

Ravjiani and Dadlani have also appeared as judges on the popular music reality television program Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, including during its 2007 and 2010 seasons.

As he approaches his milestone birthday, Ravjiani’s latest message suggests that he remains enthusiastic about exploring new musical directions and continuing his creative journey.

For the musician, turning 50 is less about looking back at past achievements and more about embracing the opportunities ahead with what he describes as twice the effort and an even greater desire to create. (Source: IANS)
