Papon Explores Healing and Self-Discovery in New Song ‘Apni Uljhan’

Mumbai — Singer-composer Papon has released a new song, “Apni Uljhan,” which explores love, separation and the emotional process of rediscovering oneself after a relationship ends.
Papon said he connected strongly with the song’s lyrics because they reflect the confusion and vulnerability that can come with trying to move forward.
“I really connected with the emotion behind Apni Uljhan’s lyrics because it speaks about that phase in life when you are trying to come out of your own confusion and learning to hold yourself together, and it’s one of my favourite tracks from Sar e Shaam album,” he said in a statement.
Written by lyricist Vaibhav Modi, “Apni Uljhan” follows the perspective of someone gradually emerging from emotional turmoil and learning to regain a sense of balance.
Papon said the song also captures how personal growth can sometimes be misunderstood by people from one’s past.
“This Ghazal has more traditional approach in melody and minimal arrangement. Sometimes healing can look like change to the people who knew you before, and I think the song captures that emotion very honestly,” he said.
The song centers on the emotional space between letting go of a relationship and continuing to feel its effects. Its themes include vulnerability, resilience and self-discovery.
Papon began his music career in 1998 with the Assamese song “Nasaba Sokule” from the album “Snigdha Junak” and released his first album, “Junaki Raati,” in 2004.
He later entered Bollywood and gained wider recognition with “Jiyein Kyun” from the 2011 film “Dum Maaro Dum.” His other notable songs include “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage” from “Dum Laga Ke Haisha,” “Humnava” from “Hamari Adhuri Kahani” and “Bulleya” from “Sultan.” (Source: IANS)
