Armaan Malik Returns to Romantic Sound With ‘Kaho Toh’ From ‘Prem Keetanu’

Mumbai — Singer-composer Armaan Malik is returning to what he calls his “OG romantic roots” with “Kaho Toh,” a new song from the upcoming film Prem Keetanu.

Malik described the track as a full-fledged Bollywood romantic number and said songs like it remind him of an era when sweeping love songs were a central part of Hindi cinema.

“It always gives me a lot of joy to sing songs like this because they transport you back to a time when these larger-than-life romantic songs were such an integral part of Bollywood films,” Malik said. “I’m really happy I got the chance to return to my OG romantic roots with this one.”

The song features Veer Pahariya and Aafiya Sayed. Its lyrics were written by Sachin Urmtosh, while Annkur R Pathakk composed the music. Altamash Faridi performs the qawwali section.

Malik said the track also marks his first collaboration with Pathakk.

“The blend of that classic Bollywood romance with the Qawwali elements gives it a beautiful character of its own,” he said. “I’m really excited for people to hear this one.”

The makers of Prem Keetanu previously released the upbeat track “Undi Bundi.”

The film’s seven-song album features singers including Sachet Tandon, Parampara Tandon, B Praak, Armaan Malik, Papon, Jubin Nautiyal, Madhur Sharma, Altamash Faridi, Shashi Suman and Brijesh Shandilya.

Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, Prem Keetanu stars Veer Pahariya, Aafiya Sayed, Aparshakti Khurana, Rakesh Bedi and Nikhil Vijay.

Produced by Gaurav Verma under Avanika Films, the movie follows a group of young people navigating friendship, first love, unrequited romance and heartbreak.

Co-presented by Phars Films and Bhavana Studios, Prem Keetanu is scheduled to be released in theaters on Oct. 2. (Source: IANS)
