Ginny Diwan Praises Shreya Ghoshal’s Emotional Depth in ‘Vaaroon Forever’

Mumbai — Lyricist Ginny Diwan, who is returning to the “Mirzapur” franchise with the song “Vaaroon Forever” from the upcoming “Mirzapur: The Movie,” has praised playback singer Shreya Ghoshal for the emotional depth she brings to the track.

Composed by Anand Bhaskar, “Vaaroon Forever” is sung by Ghoshal and Romy, with Ghoshal also performing the reprise version.

Diwan said the song gave her an opportunity to explore a softer and more personal side of characters whose emotions often remain unspoken. Although the track has a romantic tone, she said the lyrics remain grounded in the world and characters of “Mirzapur.”

“‘Mirzapur’ has been part of my journey since the very first season, so returning for the film felt like coming back to a world I know well,” Diwan said. “Every season has brought something different to the writing, and this song adds another dimension to that storytelling.”

She said the franchise’s larger-than-life characters and intense situations are also driven by strong human emotions, giving her room to explore different shades as a lyricist.

“The aim was to let the words complement the story and the music, rather than simply serving the melody,” Diwan said. “Hearing those words come alive through Shreya Ghoshal and Romy’s voices was very special. Shreya brings such depth to every line, while Romy adds a unique texture of his own.”

Diwan said she approached the song by first understanding the characters and the situation before allowing the lyrics to develop naturally.

She also spoke about her long working relationship with composer Anand Bhaskar, saying their familiarity makes the creative process easier.

“Anand and I have known each other and worked together for a long time, so there is a certain ease between us when we work on a song,” she said. “He understands the nuances of the lyrics and knows how to bring the composition and the words together.”

Diwan added that writing for “Mirzapur” has continually challenged her to find the right voice for each character and step outside her usual vocabulary.

“Creating ‘Vaaroon Forever’ with Anand was a very fulfilling experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing how audiences receive it,” she said. (Source: IANS)
