India Departs for White-Ball Series in Ireland and England

Chennai — The Shreyas Iyer-led Indian cricket team has departed from Chennai for a white-ball tour of Ireland and England beginning June 26.
India will play two T20 internationals against Ireland in Dublin on June 26 and 28 before traveling to England for five T20Is and three one-day internationals.
The Ireland matches will be India’s first T20Is since winning the T20 World Cup earlier this year. The tour also marks the beginning of a new phase in the format under Iyer, with the next Men’s T20 World Cup and the Los Angeles Olympics scheduled for 2028.
Teenage batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is among the most closely watched members of the squad. At 15 years and 71 days, he became the youngest player selected for the Indian men’s national team, surpassing a record held by Sachin Tendulkar for 36 years.
Uncapped fast bowler Prince Yadav has also earned his first senior T20I call-up after an impressive Indian Premier League season.
Senior fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was initially selected but was later replaced by Prasidh Krishna. Seam-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana has returned to the squad after undergoing surgery for a meniscus tear in March, while leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is also back in the team.
Following the Ireland series, India will face England in five T20Is from July 1 to 11. The teams will then play three ODIs from July 14 to 19.
Shubman Gill will captain the ODI team, with Iyer serving as vice captain.
Virat Kohli is set to return for the ODI series after missing the recent matches against Afghanistan because of a hamstring injury sustained during the 2026 IPL. His participation remains subject to fitness clearance, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. (Source: IANS)
