FWICE Withdraws Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh

MUMBAI, India — The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has withdrawn its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh following discussions with several film industry bodies.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, chief adviser to FWICE, said the decision was taken after consultations with the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association, the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association and the Producers Guild of India.

Pandit said IMPAA had agreed to help resolve the matter, but asked FWICE to first withdraw the directive so the issue could be discussed jointly.

“We appealed to Ranveer also, that please come, let us sort this out. And come to a conclusion so that industry once again thrives,” Pandit said.

He said the broader concern was the impact of actors or technicians leaving projects at the last moment, unless there is an emergency. Such actions, he said, can create mistrust and harm producers, crew members and others whose livelihoods depend on film productions.

Actress Upasana Singh, representing CINTAA, said the matter should be resolved through dialogue rather than legal action.

“We will try our best to sort out the issues. No one should be harmed. Neither the producer, nor the director, nor our actors. Ranveer Singh should not be harmed,” she said.

Singh said the film industry depends on cooperation among actors, directors, producers, technicians and crew members, adding that many families rely on film work for their income.
