Wicked Sunny Launches New Musical Chapter With ‘Long Way From Home’ and Debut EP ‘The Local Kid’
MUMBAI, India — Indian hip-hop artist Wicked Sunny has released “Long Way From Home,” the first single from his debut EP The Local Kid, marking the beginning of a new creative chapter in partnership with Times Music.
The track, which features MC Square and Radhika Bhide, explores themes of homesickness, ambition, and identity through the lens of a small-town artist pursuing dreams in a major city. Born in Prayagraj and now based in Mumbai, Wicked Sunny described the release as one of his most personal works to date.
“Long Way From Home is the most honest thing I have written,” Wicked Sunny said in a statement. “There is still a version of me sitting in a room in Prayagraj thinking Mumbai is too far away. This song is for that boy, and for every kid who packed a bag with more hope than money.”
The five-track EP chronicles the emotional highs and lows of adapting to life far from home. Following the opening track “Long Way From Home,” the project moves through songs including “Baawre,” “Big Drama,” and “Laal,” before concluding with “Udta Teer.” According to the artist, the EP is intended to be experienced as a continuous narrative.
MC Square said he immediately connected with the song’s emotional tone when he first heard it.
“There’s a certain loneliness and hunger in the song that felt very familiar to me,” he said. “I wanted my verse to sound lived-in and truthful.”
Bhide said the song’s emotional resonance shaped her contribution to the track.
“There’s a quiet ache in this song that stayed with me from the very first listen,” she said. “I wanted the hook to feel intimate and comforting, almost like a voice from home you hold on to during difficult days.”
“Long Way From Home” is now available across major streaming platforms. The official music video has also been released on Times Music’s YouTube channel.
