India Condemns Fujairah Attack That Injured Three Indian Nationals

NEW DELHI — India on Tuesday condemned an attack in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates that injured three Indian nationals, calling the strike “unacceptable” and urging an immediate end to hostilities targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The Ministry of External Affairs said India was closely monitoring the situation and continued to support diplomacy as the path toward restoring stability in the Gulf region.
“The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable. We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians,” the ministry said.
The ministry said India “continues to stand for dialogue and diplomacy” so that “peace and stability may be restored across West Asia.”
It also called for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.
“India stands ready to support all efforts for a peaceful resolution of issues,” the ministry added.
The Indian Embassy in the UAE said Monday that it was in contact with local authorities to ensure proper medical care and welfare for the injured Indian nationals.
“Three Indian nationals have been injured in today’s attacks in Fujairah. We are in touch with local authorities for ensuring adequate medical care and welfare of the affected Indian nationals,” the embassy said.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as “renewed unprovoked Iranian aggression” involving missiles and drones. The ministry said three Indian nationals were injured in attacks on civilian sites and facilities.
The UAE called the attacks an “unacceptable act of aggression” and a “direct threat to the UAE’s security, stability and territorial integrity.”
The ministry said the attacks violated international law and the Charter of the United Nations, adding that the UAE would not tolerate threats to its security and sovereignty.
It also said the country “reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to these unprovoked attacks in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors, in accordance with international law.”
The UAE said Iran was fully responsible for the attacks and their repercussions. (Source: IANS)
