‘Sing Geetham’: Singeetham Srinivasa Rao Returns at 94 with Musical Fantasy Set for June 11 Release

HYDERABAD — Legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is set to make a remarkable return to cinema with his latest project Sing Geetham, slated for a worldwide theatrical release on June 11. The announcement was made through a newly unveiled title teaser, generating excitement among film enthusiasts.

At 94, Rao continues to push creative boundaries with what is being described as India’s first musical fantasy. Known for his iconic body of work spanning nearly 60 films across multiple languages—including the cult classic Pushpak starring Kamal Haasan—the veteran director once again aims to redefine storytelling with a unique cinematic vision.

Produced by Nag Ashwin under the banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, Sing Geetham is set in a mysterious and secluded village. The story follows a young man, Prathap, whose search for opportunity draws him into a surreal world where reality blurs and deeper conflicts emerge.

As Prathap navigates this unfamiliar terrain, he becomes entangled in a larger struggle between progress and preservation—one that challenges his beliefs, decisions, and sense of purpose. The teaser offers a glimpse into this imaginative universe, blending fantasy elements with humor, a signature style long associated with Rao’s filmmaking.

The film introduces a young lead cast featuring Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi, who showcase strong performances and comic timing in the early preview. Supporting roles will be played by Thulasi PA, Benarjee, Sivanarayana, and Agu Stanley.

Backing the project is a skilled technical team, including cinematographer Ankur C, who is tasked with capturing the film’s visually rich world. Acclaimed composer Devi Sri Prasad will provide the soundtrack, while production designer Aravind Mule is shaping the film’s imaginative setting.

With Sing Geetham, Rao once again demonstrates his enduring passion for innovation in cinema, bringing together fantasy, music, and humor in what promises to be a distinctive cinematic experience. (Source: IANS)
