Los Angeles–Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster has revealed that multi-tasking is not her strength, saying she prefers to focus on one thing at a time rather than juggling multiple commitments simultaneously.

The 63-year-old star of The Silence of the Lambs shared that her personality is suited to total immersion in a single task, after which she likes to move on completely, according to Female First UK.

“That’s my personality,” Foster told Red magazine. “I like to do one thing with total focus, and then I like to be done and go skiing. I’m not somebody who’s a multi-tasker. I can’t go in and out of doing one thing, then do something else. I’m like a one-person channel.”

Foster added that she is driven by a desire to be challenged and enjoys learning skills that require both mental and physical commitment. She said she would welcome the opportunity to dedicate a year to mastering something entirely new.

“I love learning something that I have to immerse myself in in mind and body,” she said. “So if someone said, ‘OK Jodie, you have to take a year of your life and you will speak Mandarin and play the flute,’ I’m in.”

The actress also said she finds the idea of returning to school appealing, but without long-term pressure. “I don’t want to be stuck making a commitment to something that I then have to be an expert in for my whole life,” she said. “I just want to play an expert on TV.”

Meanwhile, Foster expressed satisfaction with the growing number of substantial roles available for older women in film and television. She noted that the industry has become more conscious about representation, especially compared to when she began her career.

“When I grew up in the film business, there were no other women,” she said. “It was just me and a whole bunch of guys. I never saw another female face, except occasionally the woman with my mom or a make-up artist.”

Foster added that she remains open to having roles adapted to suit her, as the evolving industry creates space for experienced actors to continue playing meaningful and complex characters. (Source: IANS)
