New Delhi– India’s engineering capabilities are powering some of the world’s most advanced sectors, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday, highlighting the country’s growing role in global supply chains.

“While a significant amount of design and innovation is already being done through Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, our goal now is to design, patent, and produce here—making India a globally trusted partner in supply chains,” Goyal stated.

During a visit to the KIADB Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Devanahalli, Karnataka, Goyal praised the joint initiatives of Safran Aircraft Engines and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). He also engaged with industry leaders operating from the SEZ, gathering inputs for future policy development.

The visit follows major developments in Indo-French aerospace collaboration. At the 2023 Paris Air Show, Safran signed an agreement with HAL for the industrialisation and production of rotating parts for LEAP engines—key components used in next-generation aircraft. This builds on an MoU signed in October 2023 and a February 2024 contract for forged parts production.

Safran’s expanding footprint in India includes five manufacturing facilities across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Goa. Its partnership with HAL now includes forging Inconel parts, further boosting India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities.

“We are proud to deepen our partnership with Safran and advance our industrial expertise in high-performance alloys,” said Dr. D.K. Sunil, Chairman and Managing Director, HAL. (Source: IANS)
