What the Business and Innovation Community Needs to Know About TiECON East 2026

TiECON East Chair Ameeta Soni and Co-Chair Vikram Venkatasubramanian preview a conference focused on the practical realities of building, scaling and funding companies in the Age of AI.

BOSTON–On Friday, October 2, the Burlington Marriott Hotel will become a gathering place for entrepreneurs, investors, operators, technology leaders and innovators from across New England and the broader TiE network as TiECON East 2026 brings the region’s business and technology community together for a day focused on one central question: How do companies actually grow in the Age of AI?

Organized by TiE Boston and co-hosted by TiE New York, this year’s conference takes on the theme “The Next Growth Playbook: Product, Market and Capital in the Age of AI.”

But the conversation is deliberately bigger than AI itself.

As TiECON East Chair Ameeta Soni and Co-Chair Vikram Venkatasubramanian discuss in the accompanying video interview, AI has fundamentally changed the environment in which companies build products, reach customers, raise capital and make strategic decisions. The challenge now is moving beyond the technology itself and understanding how to apply it effectively.

AI is everywhere today, but the advantage comes from how one use it. The real opportunity is leveraging AI to build better products, go to market more effectively, and deploy capital with discipline.

That emphasis on practical execution runs throughout TiECON East 2026. Rather than focusing exclusively on emerging technologies or broad predictions about the future, the one-day, single-track conference is designed around the real decisions founders and business leaders are making now.

From AI Hype to Practical Growth

For Ameeta, the importance of this year’s TiECON East lies in the moment companies find themselves navigating.

AI is increasingly embedded in products, workflows and decision-making across industries. At the same time, companies are facing pressure to demonstrate genuine customer value, build sustainable business models and use capital carefully.

The conference will explore those challenges through conversations around questions such as What Still Wins When Everyone Has AI, Building Products That Win Under Very Different Rules, and How Buyers Actually Decide Now (and Why GTM Is Harder Than It Looks).

Other sessions will tackle the realities of fundraising and company building, including What You Actually Have to Prove to Get Funding, The Messy Middle: Where Good Companies Stall, and Building Companies That Hold Up Over Time.

For attendees, the goal is not simply to hear what might happen next. It is to come away with ideas they can apply to the companies they are building, leading, funding or advising.

That practical orientation is particularly relevant to Ameeta’s own background. She is a board director and growth advisor who works with companies at key inflection points, including as an interim Chief Marketing Officer helping organizations navigate digital transformation and go-to-market execution. Her experience spans commercialization, investor engagement, strategic growth and M&A across technology, healthcare, education, industry, government and AEC.

She has served on the boards of public and private companies including Esker SA, Ompractice, HomeBinder and Plumchoice and serves on the investment committee of Maroon Venture Partners Fund. A NACD Directorship Certified® board leader and former Chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum Cambridge, she brings a perspective shaped by both entrepreneurship and governance—and by the challenges companies face when they move from opportunity to execution.

A Conference Built Around Connections

The other defining feature of TiECON East is its emphasis on people.

Vikram sees the value of the conference not simply in the formal agenda, but in the conversations that happen around it.

TiECON East brings together founders, investors, venture capitalists, operators, ecosystem leaders and professionals working across software, AI, healthcare, life sciences, fintech, climate, cybersecurity and industrial technologies.

That cross-sector mix creates opportunities for conversations that might not happen within a traditional industry-specific event.

Founders today are operating in an environment where technology cycles, customer expectations, and market dynamics are evolving faster than ever. TiECON East 2026 will focus on the practical realities of building and scaling companies—from product-market fit, capital efficiency, to operational resilience.

Vikram brings more than 25 years of technology experience, including 15 years in cybersecurity. He is the Founder and CEO of Nandi Security, Inc., a cybersecurity company focused on protecting homes and small businesses through its Kavalan product suite.

His experience spans product management, business strategy, go-to-market strategy and digital innovation. A Charter member of TiE Boston, Vikram is also an active mentor to startups through several nonprofit organizations.

His work through Nandi Security reflects a focus on making cybersecurity and digital privacy more accessible in an increasingly connected world. He holds advanced degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science and Business from the Indian Institute of Technology (Chennai), the University of Missouri-Columbia and Cornell University.

That combination of entrepreneurial experience, technology expertise and ecosystem involvement informs his focus for TiECON East: creating opportunities for people to meet, exchange ideas and build relationships that continue well beyond the conference itself.

More Than a Day of Panels

For attendees who are deciding whether to make TiECON East part of their calendar, the experience extends beyond the stage.

The conference will feature a showcase of more than two dozen emerging companies, giving founders an opportunity to gain visibility and receive feedback while connecting with investors, operators and other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The single-track format is designed to keep the community together throughout the day rather than dividing attendees among simultaneous sessions. That means participants can move between conversations, meet people from different industries and use the time between sessions to continue discussions sparked on stage.

And for founders and investors in particular, those informal conversations can be as important as the programmed content.

The broader goal, says Vikram, is for attendees to leave with “actionable insight, meaningful relationships, and a clearer understanding of how to navigate growth in this next era.”

Why This TiECON East, and Why Now?

The theme of TiECON East 2026 reflects a larger shift in the business environment.

AI is changing how products are developed and delivered. Customer expectations are evolving. Capital is being deployed with greater scrutiny. And companies are being challenged to demonstrate not simply technological sophistication, but durable value.

That makes the central questions of this year’s conference particularly timely: What actually differentiates a company when AI capabilities are increasingly widespread? How should founders think about product and market strategy? What do investors need to see? And what separates companies that successfully navigate the difficult middle stages of growth from those that stall?

Those are the questions Ameeta, Vikram and the TiECON East team are bringing to the stage on October 2.

For anyone building, funding, operating or advising a company in the New England innovation ecosystem, the day offers an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, hear how others are navigating the same challenges and—perhaps most importantly—start conversations that can continue long after the conference ends.
