Ulhas Kudva Struck and Killed by Vehicle Near His Home in Westford, MA; Friends Raising Funds to Help Family

WESTFORD, MA—In a tragic and bizarre accident, Ulhas Kudva died on the spot when he was fatally struck by a vehicle near his residence on Friday in Westford, MA.

The office of the District Attorney Marian Ryan and Westford Chief of Police Thomas McEnaney confirmed in a statement that a pedestrian has died following a motor vehicle collision, but declined to identify the victim.

“At approximately 9:00 pm last night Westford Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle striking a jogger on Route 110 in the area of Technology Park Drive,” the statement from the District Attorney’s office said. “Upon arrival authorities learned that the operator of a Toyota Highlander had apparently struck a jogger, a Westford man in his 40s. The jogger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained on the scene.”

The statement said that no changes have been filed in connection with this investigation.

“This incident is being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, the Westwood Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collission Analysis Reconstruction Section,” the statement said, adding that no information will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The victim was identified as Ulhas Kudva by his friends who have launched a fundraising campaign for the family on GoFundMe. They want to raise $300,000. As of 9:00 pm on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, they had raised $30,142 in five hours.

“Sharing with utmost grief and sadness our beloved friend Ulhas Kudva went for a jog and was fatally struck by a vehicle near his residence on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Westford, MA and lost his life on the spot,” said a post on GoFundMe page.

Mr. Kudva is survived by his wife Sheela, a 14-year-old son Tejas and an 8-year-old daughter Tanvi, according to his friends’ post on Facebook. This fundraising page has been established for those interested in assisting family during this tragic time and help for their kids future. All donations from this campaign will be going directly to the Kudva family.
