New Delhi– India has firmly rejected Pakistan’s accusations of Indian involvement in a deadly bomb blast in Balochistan, calling the claims “baseless” and a diversionary tactic to deflect attention from Islamabad’s own internal failures and its status as a global epicenter of terrorism.

The strong rebuttal from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) came hours after Pakistan alleged Indian complicity in the Khuzdar bus bombing, which killed five people, including three children, and injured around 38 others, many critically. The attack targeted a bus carrying students from the Army Public School (APS) along the Karachi-Quetta Highway near the Zero Line.

“India rejects the baseless allegations made by Pakistan regarding Indian involvement with the incident in Khuzdar earlier today. India condoles the loss of lives in all such incidents,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a statement to the media.

He added, “However, in order to divert attention from its reputation as the global epicenter of terrorism and to hide its own gross failings, it has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for all its internal issues. This attempt to hoodwink the world is doomed to fail.”

The explosion, believed to have been caused by a planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED), completely destroyed the school bus and raised fears of additional casualties. Local authorities confirmed the blast and said the injured were transported to the Central Military Hospital (CMH) in Khuzdar. The area has been cordoned off for investigation.

Instead of focusing on relief efforts and a manhunt to find those responsible, both Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) rushed to blame India, drawing criticism from observers.

Analysts suggest that Pakistan’s reflexive finger-pointing comes in the aftermath of its setback during India’s Operation Sindoor, and reflects an ongoing unwillingness to confront its domestic instability and governance failures.

For decades, international human rights organizations have documented Pakistan’s heavy-handed military operations in regions such as Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, where extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and systemic abuses have reportedly been widespread. These abuses have led to mass displacements and fueled long-standing resistance movements.

In Balochistan, in particular, locals have waged a prolonged struggle for justice and autonomy in the face of routine crackdowns and marginalization. Despite this, the Pakistani government continues to use external scapegoats to mask domestic turmoil.

India’s dismissal of Pakistan’s claims signals a growing international awareness of Pakistan’s internal repression and its use of anti-India rhetoric to deflect global scrutiny. (Source: IANS)
