New Delhi– U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s children are winning hearts across social media after stepping off Air Force Two in traditional Indian attire upon arriving in New Delhi. The viral moment has sparked an outpouring of admiration online, with one user posting, “They look super cute in Indian attire.”
Vice President Vance is on his first official visit to India, accompanied by his wife Usha Chilukuri Vance and their three children—Ewan, Vivek, and three-year-old Mirabel. Their arrival in India marks the beginning of a four-day diplomatic and cultural tour, with additional stops planned in Jaipur and Agra before departing for Washington on April 24.
Embracing Indian culture, the Vance children made a memorable first impression. Ewan and Vivek wore vibrant blue and yellow kurtas, while little Mirabel donned a traditional Anarkali-style outfit complete with an embroidered jacket. Their appearance immediately captured the attention of social media users, who praised the family’s gesture of cultural appreciation.
The family’s first stop in India was a visit to the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in Delhi, where they explored the temple’s stunning architecture and soaked in its spiritual and cultural significance. The visit underscored themes of family, faith, and harmony—values the temple is known for promoting.
This marks the first visit to India by a sitting American Vice President in 13 years, the last being Joe Biden in 2013 during his tenure as Vice President under President Barack Obama.
Usha Vance, who is of Indian heritage, brings a personal dimension to the trip. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Andhra Pradesh decades ago. Born and raised in the U.S., Usha earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University and later completed a master’s in philosophy at the University of Cambridge. She also clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and has held prominent roles in both the public and private sectors.
Usha and JD Vance met while attending Yale Law School and married in Kentucky in 2014. They now share three children and have often spoken about the importance of family and heritage in shaping their lives.
Vice President Vance is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later Monday evening, where the two leaders will hold formal discussions aimed at strengthening U.S.-India relations. (Source: IANS)
