Mumtaz Remembers Asha Bhosle with Nostalgic ‘Koi Sehri Babu’ Tribute

Veteran actress shares a heartfelt throwback video, recalling how the legendary singer’s voice brought life and emotion to her most iconic on-screen moments.

Mumbai, April 13: Remembering the iconic voice that shaped many of her on-screen moments, Mumtaz shared a nostalgic throwback video on Instagram of herself dancing to the classic song Koi Sehri Babu from the 1973 film Loafer, which also starred Dharmendra. The clip also featured Asha Bhosle joyfully attempting to match steps to the beloved track, offering fans a rare and intimate glimpse of the singer beyond the recording studio.

Expressing her grief, Mumtaz wrote that Asha Bhosle was “not just a legendary voice, but the soul behind so many of my most cherished on-screen moments.” She added that the singer’s songs brought life, charm, and emotional depth to her performances in ways words could scarcely capture.

Calling the experience of working with Bhosle a blessing, Mumtaz praised her timeless artistry. “She had a magic that made every song unforgettable. I will always remain grateful for the melodies she gifted me and the industry. Her voice will live on forever in our hearts,” she shared.

Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 at Breach Candy Hospital. Over a remarkable career spanning more than eight decades, she recorded nearly 12,000 songs in around 20 languages, leaving an indelible mark on Indian and global music.

Her illustrious career was recognized with numerous honours, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. She also won two National Film Awards for her unforgettable renditions of Dil Cheez Kya Hai from Umrao Jaan and Mera Kuch Saamaan from Ijaazat.
