Mesma Belsare’s paitings showcase opens in Jamaica Plain on March 10

BOSTON– Mesma Belsare, a dancer, choreographer, actor, visual artist and educator, will showcase his paintings on Thursday, March 10, in Jamaica Plain, Boston.

The opening of Belsare paintings, which will be held at 363 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, is hosted and sponsored by Joe Fallon of Re/Max Destiny. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

Belsare is a dancer, choreographer, actor, visual artist and educator. Recipient of international awards and scholarships, she is a dancer who has created a niche in the realm of classical Indian arts, while expanding her repertoire in the contemporary idiom, according to her bio on her website.

Belsare is formally trained in Bharatanatyam by Shri Shankar Hombal (Kalakshetra bani) and Padmashri Geeta Chandran (Thanjavur bani) since 1987 and 1995 respectively. She is continuing her studies under Dr. Maya Kulkarni in New York City.

Belsare holds a Masters degree in Art Education. She offers a unique connection between visual and performing arts in her art while keeping the work bold and edgy and remains committed towards extending critical thought in the understanding and treatment of traditional Bharatanatyam. Musical integrity and precision of technique in both abhinaya and nritta elements are the hallmarks of her style, according to the website.
