WASHINGTON, D.C. — India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Kwatra, met policy experts and analysts at the Heritage Foundation on Thursday, continuing a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening India–U.S. strategic cooperation.

In a post on X, Kwatra said he had “an excellent roundtable discussion” with experts at the Heritage Foundation, which he described as a strong supporter of India–U.S. ties. He said the conversation covered developments across key pillars of the bilateral partnership, including shared economic priorities, trade negotiations, and cooperation on oil and gas.

The Heritage Foundation, one of Washington’s most influential conservative think tanks, is closely aligned with policy priorities associated with the Trump administration.

Kwatra has stepped up outreach efforts in recent months, holding frequent discussions with lawmakers, senior officials, and policy groups. On Wednesday, he met Jason Smith, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and briefed him on ongoing talks toward a fair and balanced India–U.S. trade agreement. Kwatra thanked Smith for his strong support of the bilateral trade relationship.

The ambassador also met Democratic Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan to discuss India–U.S. cooperation in trade, defense, energy, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. He expressed appreciation for her continued support of the partnership.

On November 7, Kwatra held discussions with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Paul Kapur at the State Department. A post by the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs quoted Kapur thanking the ambassador for the meeting and emphasising shared interests and continued collaboration.

Earlier that week, Kwatra hosted Kapur at India House, describing the conversation as an engaging discussion on shared priorities and the broader bilateral relationship.

The ambassador’s series of meetings comes at a time when India and the United States are expected to finalise the first tranche of a long-anticipated trade agreement, marking a significant step forward in economic engagement between the two countries. (Source: IANS)
