Govt Invites Startups to Showcase Innovations at WaveX Pavilion During IFFI Goa 2026
The initiative will offer DPIIT-registered startups in film and allied technologies an international platform to present their innovations, connect with investors and explore industry collaborations.

New Delhi–The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has invited applications from startups working in film and allied technologies to participate in the WaveX Startup Pavilion at WAVES Bazaar during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa 2026.
According to an official statement issued by the Ministry on Saturday, the initiative aims to provide startups with an exclusive platform to showcase their products, technologies and innovative solutions to the national and international film and media industry.
The pavilion will also facilitate networking opportunities and industry engagement, enabling emerging companies to connect with filmmakers, production houses, investors and other stakeholders across the global creative ecosystem.
Applications are open to startups registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and operating in the film and related technology sectors. Eligible applicants will undergo a screening and evaluation process conducted by a Selection Committee constituted by WaveX.
“Interested and eligible startups are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their innovations on an international platform,” the ministry said in its statement.
WaveX, the WAVES Startup Accelerator, is an incubation and acceleration initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in India’s media and entertainment sector.
The initiative focuses on supporting startups working in emerging areas such as Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR), along with other media technologies.
Established in 1952, IFFI is one of Asia’s prominent film festivals and is held annually in Goa. The festival provides a platform for showcasing international cinema, encouraging creative exchange and strengthening collaborations within the global film industry.
The WaveX pavilion is part of the government’s broader efforts to position India as a global hub for creative and immersive media technologies. National platforms such as the WAVES Summit have also been instrumental in showcasing the country’s growing capabilities in the media and entertainment sector.
Further highlighting the government’s focus on the AVGC industry, the Union Budget 2026–27 allocated Rs 250 crore for setting up AVGC Content Creator Labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges across the country, according to a recent official factsheet.
Through initiatives such as WaveX, the government aims to encourage technology-driven entrepreneurship, strengthen India’s creative economy and provide emerging startups with greater access to national and international industry opportunities. (Source: IANS)
