LEXINGTON, MA–Get ready for Awaaz-e-Jazbaat Shankar Jaikishan ke Saath this Saturday at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum in Lexington, MA. An enchanting film-music program, which is produced by Mohan Subramaniam and his team of local singers, is dedicated to songs composed by Shankar Jaikishan, the duo who dominated Hindi film music for several decades.
“After months of preparation we are so excited to present Awaaz-e-Jazbaat Shankar Jaikishan ke Saath before our audience,” said Subramaniam, key organizer of the show and one of the singers. “We are so thankful for the continued support for our shows.”
The Subramaniam team has produced several hit shows over the years such as, “Shaam-e-Burman”, “Khandan-e-Kapoor”, “Badhshah-e-Romance” and “A musical journey with Hrishikesh Mukherjee”.
“For this particular show … which is our sixth .. rehearsing to present the breadth and versatility of Shankar Jaikishan’s music has been both a joy and a challenge,” said Subramaniam. “We are looking forward to share Shankar Jaikishan’s timeless music and immortal songs with our audience this Saturday.”
The show focuses on Shankar Jaikishan, whose music portrayed an array of different emotions or jazbaats through the magical voices of Rafi, Lata, Mukesh, Manna Dey and Asha among others. Some of the immortal songs by Shankar Jaikishan include Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par, Yeh mera prem patra padhkar, Yeh Raat bheegi bheegi, Dheere Dheere Chal or Awara hoon.
Subramaniam says that the show is designed to take the audience on a nostalgic ride on memory lane with an audio-visual experience that will regale the attendees with Shankar Jaikishan’s immortal songs and jazbaats.
In addition to Subramaniam, other singers are Sowmya Shri, Raghu Saranathan, Nidhi Tare Lad and Hemant Patkar, each of who is well known among film music lovers in Boston. The core organizing committee of the show consists of Harish Dang, Dr. Manju Sheth, MD, Preetesh Shrivastava, Eshani Shah, Jharna Madan and Dr. Meera Subramaniam, MD. Bipin Parekh, a knowledgeable connossier of hindi film music serves as an Advisor.
The venue is the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum, 33 Marrett Road, in Lexington. The show starts at 5:30 pm on the 22nd of April. Net proceeds of the show will go to two charities: Saheli, that helps battered South Asian women and The Indian Circle of Caring, that helps the Indian community in times of sickness, accidents, bereavement or death.
