MAYNARD, MA–Calcutta Club USA is organizing Cuisinart 2018, a fusion of a South Asian live culinary contest and a parallel Asian art exhibition on Sat, March 17th at Maynard Elks Lodge in Maynard from 12 – 5 PM. Now in its third year, CuisinArt is New England’s only Indian live culinary contest that is uniquely presented within a collage of art and musical performance, organizers said in a statement.
“Cuisinart synchronizes food and art to encourage rising artists to showcase an Asian themed portfolio of paintings and drawings to Boston art aficionados as well as for creative non-professional cooks to prepare vintage South Asian delicacies within 30 minutes and impress discerning judges,” the statement said.

An innovative experiment last year was Live Art, where two artists painted complete canvases to the accompaniment of a 30 minutes dance session. These paintings were then auctioned to the audience for charity and the proceeds entirely donated, through Acton Boxboro High School ASHA group to Prerna Girls School in Lucknow. The funds supported education for 6 girls for one year.
“We will repeat Live Art in CuisinArt 2018, through with a different musical flavor,” the statement said.
Much of the exhibit artwork at Cuisinart had not been publicly displayed in Massachusetts earlier, providing a premium opportunity for collectors and galleries to acquire some unique Asian art specimens. You will have a chance to stroll through the works and chat with the artists in person.
“Then walk over to the other side and check out the live cooking rounds by people you know,” said the statement.
