Sonakshi Sinha Says ‘System’ Explores Justice and Social Inequality
MUMBAI, India — Sonakshi Sinha says her upcoming streaming film “System” reflects society’s complicated relationship with justice, power and the law.
The trailer for the courtroom thriller was released Tuesday. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film stars Sinha as Neha, an ambitious public prosecutor drawn into a case that tests ideas of truth, privilege and morality.

“Playing this character has been deeply rewarding,” Sinha said. “I’m always drawn to stories that challenge me as an actor, and Prime Video has given me the opportunity to explore diverse genres and themes, from ‘Dahaad’ to now ‘System’. This original movie is more than just a legal drama; it reflects the society we live in, where justice can sometimes be as divided as the social structures around us. Ashwiny’s clear vision helped me bring out my best and I’m excited to see how audiences respond when ‘System’ premieres.”
The trailer shows Neha trying to prove herself to her father, played by Ashutosh Gowariker, to earn a partnership at his firm. She recruits Sarika, a courtroom stenographer played by Jyotika, who appears to have motives of her own.
Jyotika said the film explores “the contrasts of modern India, where privilege and inequality co-exist.”
Tiwari said the movie examines how justice can feel different depending on a person’s place in society, while also putting two women protagonists at the center of the story.
Written by Harman Baweja, Arun Sukumar, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Tasneem Lokhandwala and Akshat Ghildial, “System” also stars Preeti Agarwal, Addinath Kothare, Aashriya Mishra, Gaurav Pandey and Sayandeep Sengupta.
Produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja and Smitha Baliga, “System” premieres May 22 on Prime Video.

Ayushmann Khurrana Says Social Media Criticism Does Not Decide a Film’s Fate
MUMBAI, India — Ayushmann Khurrana says social media criticism has become an unavoidable part of film promotions, but strong storytelling can still win over audiences.

In an interview with IANS, Khurrana was asked whether early reactions to a trailer or teaser can affect a movie. He said actors often receive broad support early in their careers, but criticism increases once they become more established.
“Every actor goes through a honeymoon period in the beginning of their career. You get unanimous love. But after some years, you will get criticism when you reach the helm of your career. Like, they always support the underdog. When you’re not the underdog anymore, then they’ll probably be like a little critical,” he said.
Khurrana said criticism always existed, but social media has made it more visible.
“We live in a day and age when you will not get unanimous love. You’ll always be criticized,” he said. “There used to be a lot of criticism in the past. But now, we get to hear it in a tea stall, in a corner, at a barber’s shop.”
He cited “Dhurandhar” as an example, saying the film initially faced negativity but later proved itself with audiences.
“There is no trailer that got unanimous love recently,” Khurrana said. “I loved the trailer, personally, but I didn’t understand why there was so much negativity around it. And look at what the film has done. It’s such a brilliant film.”
Khurrana said quality filmmaking remains the most important factor, whether for a smaller movie such as “12th Fail” or a larger production such as “Dhurandhar.”
