It’s super fun to work with Pradeep Sarkar: Neetu Chandra
Mumbai– Actress Neetu Chandra, who will soon be seen in an ad film shot by filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, says it was fun working with him.
Sarkar, who has films like “Parineeta”, “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag”, “Mardaani” and “Lafangey Parindey” to his credit, has also directed a number of ad films.
“This feels like the new start to my career since I had begun shooting with Pradeep dada at the start of my career in ads. I feel like this is the new beginning with him. I look forward to more such experiences in future,” Neetu said in a statement.
“It’s super fun to work with Pradeep dada and especially when you get to gorge on authentic Bengali food on the sets, then I forget about my diet chart,” she added.
‘Newton’ director hopes National Award win creates more space for political cinema
New Delhi– “Newton” director Amit V Masurkar hopes the Best Hindi Film National Award for his movie opens up more doors for relevant political cinema in India.
The 65th National Film Awards were announced here on Friday.
Thanking the jury for awarding “Newton”, Masurkar said in a statement: “I hope this award and the film’s commercial success creates a bigger space for relevant political cinema.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without an incredible cast, crew, and the love and support from the people of Chhattisgarh where we shot the film.”
Rajkummar Rao-starrer “Newton”, which tells the story of a government clerk who tries to run a free and fair election in a conflict area in central India, was also the official selection as India’s entry for the 90th Academy Awards.
Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who played the role of a CRPF officer in the film, won a Special Mention at the National Film Awards for his performance.
Rana Daggubati elated that ‘Baahubali 2…’, ‘Ghazi’ got National Awards
Mumbai– Actor Rana Daggubati says he is very happy that both his films “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” and “Ghazi” were honoured at the 65th National Film Awards on Friday.
While “Ghazi” won the Best Telugu film award, “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” bagged the Best Action-direction, Best Special Effects and Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
“The joy of ‘Baahubali’ has been going on for last five-six years –from the shooting process to the box office success. It has really brought in spectacle cinema in a big way in India,” Rana said in a statement.
“‘Ghazi’ is one of the films that I am really very proud of because there was a lot of resistance when I was trying to make the film. There is no love story, song dance sequence that we have in regular Telugu film. But it did well at the box office in all languages – Telugu, Hindi and has now won a National award. I did a big film and an alternate genre film and both have got their merit so it’s great,” he added.
Manish Choudhari finds Delhiites’ fashion sense ‘classy’
New Delhi– Actor Manish Choudhari, who has featured in movies like “Raaz 3” and “Bombay Velvet”, finds the dress sense of people in Delhi classy.
Delhiites are often slammed for over-dressing. But Manish has a different opinion.
“People should wear what they want to, if they like to over-dress, they should. It’s your own preference and choice, and we are nobody to comment on it,” Manish told IANS.
“I belong from Delhi and I find the dressing of people here equally classy and on point,” he added.
He follows the “3C principle — casual comfort clothing”.
“It really helps you to stay refreshed and is good to beat the heat,” he added.
But Manish enjoys wearing formals too for his role of K.K. Reddy in the show “Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai”.
“I’ve been given fantastic formal clothing, both traditional and western and that itself is a huge transformation for me. I really enjoy K.K.’s look,” he said.
The show’s stylist Gunjun Arora, who has designed and styled for movies like “Haider” and “Dear Maya”, said: “Manish is undoubtedly a stylist’s actor. His character of KK Reddy, who is a South Indian, is a business tycoon and has a strong personality. He gives us a lot of variation in styling him.”
Indraneil Sengupta keen on doing travel show
Mumbai– Actor Indraneil Sengupta loves to pack his bags and explore the world whenever he can. He says he would like to make a living out of his passion by doing a travel show.
“I try to travel once in three months. I would absolutely love to do a travel show. That would be like making a living out of a passion,” Indraneil told IANS.
What does he like the most about travelling?
“The people, culture and the food…the different vibes that different places have and the whole experience of taking off to a different place,” he said.
His latest outing was with his wife Barkha Bisht and their daughter Meira to Jim Corbett National Park.
“Jim Corbett was an outstanding experience. It’s not just about tiger sighting, but the whole experience of the jungle, the serenity and the different terrains that Corbett offers. And of course, the vast wildlife,” said the actor.
On the work front, he is currently seen in the Star Bharat show “Nimki Mukhiya”.
Actor in me feels alive again: Divya Dutta on the National Award
Mumbai– Divya Dutta, who won the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film “Irada” at the 65th National Film Awards on Friday, says it is such achievements that make her feel alive as an actor.
“The actor in me feels alive again and grateful that there is appreciation pouring in. I am overjoyed with the news,” Divya said.
She has been getting one good news after another.
“First, my film ‘Manto’ going to Cannes Film Festival and now the National Award…I am overwhelmed. After a 100 odd films, this is my first National Award and I am going to treasure this moment. It means the world,” Divya added.
In “Irada”, Divya played the role of a minister. The movie, which also features Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi, also bagged the Best Environment Film Award.
As the compassionate helper Shabbo in “Veer-Zaara” or as the lower-caste Jalebi in “Delhi-6”, Divya has proved her versatility time and again with strong roles.
Her Bollywood journey had started in 1994 with “Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna”.
It’s exhilarating: Pankaj Tripathi on National Award win
New Delhi– Friday morning brought a happy surprise for actor Pankaj Tripathi, who is delighted to win a Special Mention at the 65th National Film Awards for his performance in “Newton”. The actor says he never thought he was in the race.
“I am absolutely delighted,” Pankaj, who has been acknowledged for his spectacular role as a CRPF officer in the film that also starred Rajkummar Rao, said in a statement.
“I had no idea I was even in the running. It feels amazing to know that the whole country thought my role in ‘Newton’ was one of my best and to win the Special Mention Award at the highest film award in India is just exhilarating,” he added.
Co-written and directed by Amit Masurkar, the film was also the official selection as India’s entry for the 90th Academy Awards.
Pankaj has thanked the “director and co-actors” who made it so easy for him to act in this film.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, who headed the jury for the National Awards this year, said Pankaj’s performance was so brilliant that the main character wouldn’t have come out as well had it not been for his work.
Tanya Sharma was apprehensive to experiment with look
Mumbai– Actress Tanya Sharma says she was apprehensive about experimenting with her look in TV show “Woh Apna Sa”.
In the show, Tanya is seen essaying the role of a supermodel Binny.
“When I was first told that Binny would require a unique look for ‘Woh Apna Sa’, which includes some vibrant coloured wigs, I was shocked and was not sure how to react to the situation,” Tanya said in a statement.
“To begin with, I had my apprehensions as to whether audiences would outright reject my character for that very reason. Secondly, would the wigs come in the way of people being able to connect with the character’s emotions? So, even though I started off with a lot of self-doubt, I gradually realised that people were fascinated by the wild child image and the uniqueness of my styling worked well for the character,” she added.
The Zee TV show narrates the love story of Arjun (Ssudeep Sahir) and Jiya (Disha Parmar). The current sequence focuses on how Nisha (Manasi Salvi) has managed to separate them.
Tanya has thanked her co-stars for pushing her to go for the look.
“In fact, it helped me stand out. I must thank my co-stars who were really encouraging and their feedback truly helped. Viewers have enjoyed seeing this side of Binny and have showered me with a lot of love,” she added. (IANS)
