Kamal launches ‘Makkal Neethi Maiam’ party

Madurai– Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan on Wednesday formally launched his political party called Makkal Neethi Maiam (People Justice Centre).

He also unfurled his party’s flag, which has six hands – three in red and three in white – joined together around a star on a white background.

With this, Kamal becomes one more actor from Tamil movie world to float a political party.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and former Delhi Minister Somnath Bharati were also present in the public meeting in which Kamal declared the party’s name and flag..

Actress Sripriya adds star power to Kamal’s Makkal Neethi Maiam

Madurai– The Makkal Neethi Maiam (People Justice Centre) floated by actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan here on Wednesday has one more popular movie star apart from its top leader.

Actress Sripriya, a leading heroine of yesteryear, was inducted into the new party’s high-level committee at the party’s launch here on Wednesday.

She has acted with Kamal in several movies.

Rhea Sharma looks up to Rekha

Mumbai– Actress Rhea Sharma says she looks up to veteran cine icon Rekha as a “strong role model”.

“I definitely look up to Rekha ma’am as a strong role model and the fact that she had always been my inspiration is not hidden,” Rhea said in a statement.

The actress, who is seen in the Star Plus show “Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji”, added: “I have loved her since my childhood days, watching and admiring her. If by God’s grace, my career shapes up even one per cent of what Rekha ma’am did with her work, I would be blessed.”

Prince Narula amazed by young trollers

Actor Prince Narula says he gets amazed to see youngsters using the Internet to troll people, instead of using it wisely.

“I am really surprised to see young adults indulging in something so trivial as trolling nowadays,” Prince said in a statement.

Prince joined the team of “MTV Troll Police” to face his biggest troll, and lauded the initiative.

“There’s so much one can do with the Internet, use it wisely instead of commenting on how I look and what I do — I am just doing my job like any other human being. Unfortunately, we can’t stop it but I’m glad that MTV has taken this initiative not only to help celebrities but also common people who suffer because of online trolling,” he added.

Music has no boundaries: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Mumbai– Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who is facing a backlash for singing the song titled “Ishtehar” — a soulful rendition — for Indian film production “Welcome To New York”, says music has no boundaries.

Singer-turned-Union minister Babul Supriyo had said Rahat’s voice in the song must be removed and dubbed by someone else as he was not able to comprehend the need or desire to cross the border for entertainment content at a time when tensions on the India-Pakistan border had escalated.

Following Supriyo’s suggestion, the film’s director Chakri Toleti said they are yet to decide the fate of the song.

Rahat then tweeted on Tuesday: “In midst of so much being said all I can say is music has no boundaries and I thank everyone for showing so much love for the songs which I am a part of.”

Composer Shamir Tandon has defended the use of his voice in the film.

Rahat has been singing for Bollywood films since 2003. He has delivered many hits like “Mann ki lagan”, “Jiya dhadak dhadak”, “Bol na halke halke” and “O re piya”.

‘Kedarnath’ schedule 2 underway: Abhishek Kapoor

Mumbai– Director Abhishek Kapoor, who had a falling out with the producers of “Kedarnath”, has started the second schedule of the film’s shooting.

Kapoor shared a small video of a ‘puja’ on Wednesday to announce the news on Instagram.

“The journey continues. Schedule two underway. ‘Kedarnath’, jai bhole nath. Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara Ali Khan,” he posted on his Instagram account.

“Kedarnath” will launch actor Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan.

The movie is being jointly made by KriArj Entertainment, T-Series, Balaji Motion Pictures and Kapoor’s Guy In The Sky Pictures (GITS).

While KriArj Entertainment’s representatives had blamed the director’s unprofessional behaviour and mismanagement as the reason for the delay in the movie, his representatives alleged that there was “lack of transparency in KriArj Entertainment’s financial dealings”.

Earlier this week, Arjun N. Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment had told IANS: “We are confident that things will be sorted out soon”.

Irrfan puts work on hold due to jaundice

Mumbai– Actor Irrfan Khan is suffering from jaundice, and has put all his professional commitments on hold due to the illness.

The actor had to leave for Punjab for a shooting schedule for his political satire series “The Ministry”, and then start promoting his forthcoming film “Blackmail”. But Irrfan has been advised to take rest.

“The doctors have strictly advised complete bed rest for Irrfan. His team is working on rescheduling all his commitments in the best interest of all causing as minimal as issues to everyone,” his publicist said in a statement.

On the work front, Irrfan will be seen in the Amazon Prime Video series “The Ministry”, and then start shooting for his next film with Vishal Bhardwaj.

After that, he will focus on “Hindi Medium 2”, which will be helmed by Homi Adajania.

Sandeepa wants to reconnect with Lindy hop

Mumbai– Actress Sandeepa Dhar wants to reconnect with Lindy hop, and hopes to do it through a dance number in her forthcoming film “Firrkie”.

Sandeepa, who has featured in “Isi Life Mein”, “Dabangg 2” and “Heropanti”, will play a model in “Firrkie”, which also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Karan Singh Grover, Kay Kay Menon and Jackie Shroff.

“I love dancing, but I haven’t really got the opportunity to showcase my dancing skills in the movies I’ve done so far,” Sandeepa said in a statement.

“Lindy hop is one of the most beautiful forms of creative look. It is a hip-hop tradition. It is part of my childhood and who I am. I want to reconnect with it,” she added.

Sandeepa is a qualified Lindy hop dancer. She started learning the dance form at the age of 10. But didn’t get time to practice it after entering showbiz.

Shraddha Kapoor amazed at digital platform’s reach

Actress Shraddha Kapoor is in love with all the digital platforms for making it easy for her to connect with fans.

The actress also praised social media app musical.ly, which is used for creating and sharing videos.

Zaira open to do TV shows with good content

New Delhi– “Dangal” fame actress Zaira Wasim says that she is game for her small screen debut provided she gets projects with good content.

Asked if she would like to work on TV like superstar Aamir Khan, Zaira told IANS over phone from Jammu: “I would love to. At the end of the day, I think for an artiste what matters is good content… whether it is in films or short films or television.”

The actress, who is currently studying in the 11th standard, has worked with Aamir in films “Dangal” and “Secret Superstar”, which will air on Zee Cinema on Sunday.

The actress describes him as “Mr. Passionate”.

Talking about working with the superstar, Zaira said: “It was great. I enjoyed a lot. I learnt a lot of things from him. He is the kind of person whom we call Mr. Perfectionist, but I think he should be called Mr. Passionate. The kind of dedication and passion he has for his work is commendable.”

She added: “It just reflects out of him. He doesn’t make a deliberate effort to preach, lecture, but there is a certain thing that reflect out of them. It’s about his acting skills and life.”

Last year, the 17-year-old alleged sexual harassment on a Delhi-Mumbai flight.

Ankit Tiwari gushes about getting hitched

Kanpur– Ankit Tiwari will be getting married to Pallavi Shukla on Wednesday, and the singer-composer says he is looking forward to starting a new chapter of his life.

The “Galliyan” hitmaker got engaged on Tuesday. He will be getting married here later on Wednesday.

“This is one of the most beautiful days of my life as I begin a new chapter with the blessing of my family,” Tiwari told IANS.

“We are all overjoyed, happy and excited to welcome Pallavi, my better half who completes me, into my life,” he added.

Tiwari hasn’t invited any Bollywood celebrity for the wedding, but will be throwing a reception party in Mumbai in the second week of March.

The singer-composer also posted an image from his engagement ceremony on his Instagram account.

The post read: “I will spend an eternity loving you, caring for you, respecting you, showing to you everyday that I hold you as high as the stars. #FinallyEngaged.”

Back in 2014, Tiwari was arrested after being accused of rape and molestation by his former girlfriend. (IANS)
