Anupam Kher turns 64, parties with De Niro
New York– Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who turned 64 on Thursday, celebrated his birthday with Hollywood star Robert De Niro.
As Anupam is busy shooting for his show “New Amsterdam” here, American hedge fund manager Barry Rosenstein hosted a birthday dinner for him.
Rosenstein was introduced to Anupam by his “Silver Linings Playbook” co-star De Niro.
For the “The Accidental Prime Minister” actor, “it was a dream come true that Mr. De Niro was part of my birthday for two years in a row”.
“It was a wonderful dinner hosted by Barry Rosenstein and it was so gracious of him to host it in my honour,” he added.
The dinner was an intimate affair with close friends including the acclaimed Indian doctor and cancer specialist Siddharth Mukherjee and his artist wife Sara.
Last year, De Niro threw a birthday party for Anupam.
Made a huge mistake: Big B on his swimwear photograph
Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who often treats his fans to snapshots of some of his treasured memories by sharing photographs on social media, feels it was a “huge mistake” on his part to share one in which he was wearing swimming trunks.
A month ago, Big B posted the photograph of himself on Instagram. He was seen in swimming trunks and sporting sunglasses.
“… the beachcomber in Mauritius… my first visit in a delegation. What a moment, unforgettable! Moments later after this picture, went into the sea and got stung by that fish that stings .. don’t know the name.. guess it didn’t approve my outfit, ” he wrote on Twitter along with the image.
Recently during the promotions of his upcoming film, when he was asked to make a comment on the photograph, Big B said: “I made a huge mistake by uploading this photo. When I had gone to Mauritius for the first time, I went for swimming and there was a person who took a photo with me.
“Recently, he sent me this photo to introduce himself to me. So I uploaded it by showing only myself and not him because I didn’t want him to get any limelight. Photo daalne ke baad mujhe badi gaali padi, ” quipped the actor.
Gurinder Chadha to make animated musical for Netflix
Los Angeles– Online streaming platform Netflix has teamed up with filmmaker Gurinder Chadha to convert Nidhi Chananis best-selling graphic novel “Pashmina” into an original CG animated musical.
According to deadline.com, Netflix along with Gurinder and her writing partner Paul Nayeda Berges and Hyde Park principal Ashok Amritraj will work on the musical.
Gurinder, known for helming films like “Bhaji on the Beach”, “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Bride and Prejudice”, wrote “Woo hoo!” as she shared the news on her Twitter page.
“Pashmina” is a fantasy and adventure story that follows Priyanka, a first generation American of Indian descent, as she explores her family history with the help of a magical pashmina.
“When our hero, Priyanka, puts on the magical pashmina for the first time and is transported to the India of her dreams, that’s when the fun, the magic, the song and the dancing really come to life,” said Gurinder.
Playing negative roles do take toll: Alka Kaushal
Mumbai– Actress Alka Kaushal says essaying negative roles is not an easy task, adding that coming out of the zone can be difficult for an actor.
Alka has been part of shows like “Swaragini” and “Qubool Hai” on the small screen, and has been mostly seen playing negative roles.
“When I do a negative character, it takes a toll on me. I am very different from the roles that I get to play…But one has to act to do justice to the way the writer has envisioned the character,” Alka told IANS here.
“We have to think what made the person so negative and take such extreme steps. That is a bit difficult,” she added.
Recounting an incident, the actress said: “In one show, my character was supposed to pull down another character, who was supposed to hang upside down. Before shooting the scene, I was very upset…Such things have an effect on you, but you have to come out of it and do the scene in the most perfect manner.”
Babul Supriyo to play ‘integral part’ in Srijit Mukherji’s film on Netaji
Kolkata– National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji on Thursday announced that singer-turned-politician Babul Supriyo will play an “integral part” in his upcoming film “Gumnami”, which is based on the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
A man who led the life of a reclusive Hindu sant in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh in the 1970s and 80s came to be known as the “Gumnami Baba”. Those who met him claimed that he was none other than Subhas Chandra Bose, whose reported death in a plane crash in 1945 has been doubted by many.
“Finished off the 3 day recce outside the city with a gargantuan feast of mutton at a dear friend & colleague @SuPriyoBabul’s place. Like Uma and ShahJahanRegency, he is an integral part of ‘Gumnaami’. And we will find out soon in what capacity,” Mukherji wrote on his Twitter handle.
Speaking about Mukherji’s surprise visit, the BJP leader and Union Minister wrote: “Let the topic we spoke about remain ‘Gumnaami’.”
Actress Jayasudha joins YSR Congress
Hyderabad– Well-known Telugu actress Jayasudha on Thursday joined the YSR Congress Party.
She, along with her son Nihar Kapoor, met YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy at his residence here and formally joined the party.
Jayasudha had quit the Congress to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2016 but remained largely inactive in it.
The actress, who played leading role in many films in 1970s and 1980s, was elected to Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Secunderabad constituency in 2009. She, however, could not retain the seat in the 2014 elections.
Jayasudha told reporters after meeting Jaganmohan Reddy that she would work to strengthen the party. She stressed her close relation with Andhra Pradesh but said she had no plans to contest the elections. (IANS)
