Aamir Khan is a ‘huge’ Rajinikanth fan

Mumbai– Superstar Aamir Khan says he is a huge fan of Tamil megastar Rajinikanth and cannot wait to watch his latest release “Kaala”.

“Have always been a huge Rajni fan, can’t wait to watch ‘Kaala’,” Aamir tweeted on Thursday morning.

Aamir and Rajinikanth have featured together in the 1995 film “Aatank Hi Aatank”. It also stars Juhi Chawla.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, “Kaala” also stars Eswari Rao, Samuthirakani,Huma Qureshi, Sampath Raj, Sayaji Shinde, Anjali Patil, Manikandan, Dileepan, Pankaj Tripathi, Ravi Kale, Ramesh Thilak, Arul Doss, Aravind Akash, Sakshi Agarwal, Arundhati, Suganya and Nithish.

“Kaala” has been facing opposition in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. However, fans of Rajinikanth celebrated the release of “Kaala” in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

In Karnataka, the film’s release was opposed by some organisations after the southern superstar said the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) on the sharing of the Cauvery river water between Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry, has to be set up.

SRK wants Armaan to do music for him

Mumbai– Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has shown interest in working with Armaan Malik. The excited young singer said it will be also amazing if his brother and composer Amaal Mallik gets to do the music.

During a chat with his fans on Twitter, Shah Rukh was asked if he would like to collaborate with Armaan.

“Would love for Armaan to do music for me,” Shah Rukh replied.

Armaan, who has given hit numbers like “Sab tera”, “Naina” and “Bol do na zara” with Amaal, tweeted on Thursday: “It’ll be amazing if Amaal Mallik does the music and I sing as he is the composer and I am the singer. Would definitely be a dream come true!”

On the film front, Shah Rukh will soon be seen in “Zero”.

Asked about another teaser or trailer of “Zero”, Shah Rukh said: “Aanand L. Rai has made one teaser for Eid. Hopefully, you will all like it.”

Pooja Banerjee to play heartbroken girl in show

Mumbai– Actress Pooja Banerjee is set to essay the role of a “heartbroken girl”, Aarohi, who is in love with the lead character Rithwik Noon (actor Karan Kundra) of the show “Dil Hi Toh Hai”.

“In my previous shows, I have always played strong roles but never got a chance to portray the character of a heartbroken girl who is madly in love with someone. I am delighted that ‘Dil Hi Toh Hai’ is giving me an opportunity to perform such a different role,” Pooja said in a statement.

“I am enjoying the freedom to experiment with my look and clothes as Aarohi is a classy girl. I was in Indonesia when I got a call from the production house and because Balaji (Telefilms) is like my family, I didn’t have to think twice to say yes to them that too without questioning them about the script or my character,” added the “Chandrakanta” actress.

“Dil Hi Toh Hai” will premiere soon on Sony Entertainment Television.

Yami heads to Serbia for ‘Uri’

Mumbai– Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is headed to Serbia to start shooting for the first schedule of her upcoming film “Uri”.

“Yami is all set for her first schedule in Siberia. As her fans and media have been tracking not only has she gotten fitter, but has gone through a makeover to dive into the character she is playing,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

Yami will play the role of an intelligence officer and will be acting alongside Vicky Kaushal in the film.

“She is very excited about the role and keeps adding a few nuances to her character to make it even more layered. She is totally looking and feeling the part,” the spokesperson added.

The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, is based on the Uri attack of September 2016.

In September 18, 2016, terrorists from Pakistan attacked a military base in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir leaving 19 Indian soldiers dead. Eleven days later, the Indian Army retaliated with a series of surgical strikes on terrorist camps across the border.

Jackky Bhagnani starts shooting for ‘Anandwaa’

Mumbai– Actor Jackky Bhagnani started shooting for the film “Anandwaa” on Thursday here.

The actor will play the lead role in the film, which is an ode to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s cult classic “Anand”. The 1971 film featured the late actor Rajesh Khanna and megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

“I am very excited to play this role. ‘Anand’ is such a poignant and beautiful film. I am honoured to be working for this project. The film requires a lot of sensitivity and what drew me to the script was how maturely the writing was handled.

“I am sure the audience will love the film,” Jackky said in a statement.

Directed by Abir Sengupta, “Anandwaa” explores the journey of a man who chooses to handle a life-altering situation with humour.

Pritam looking for new music talent

Mumbai– Composer Pritam is in search of new music talent for his upcoming project.

He will also be seen as a judge along with rapper Badhshah and singer Sunidhi Chauhan of the second season of the show “Dil Hai Hindustani”.

“‘Dil Hai Hindustani 2’ is a platform which brings in diverse and original voices from not only within the country but also from around the world. I am very excited to judge the show as well as find a voice for my next track,” Pritam said in a statement.

“I’m also an outsider for this industry, I understand how tough it can be to find your way around. Hence, I wish to give more and more opportunities and help people. What am I looking for is an unique voice. Once I find that, my team will be working closely with the contestant on the track,” added the composer, who has worked for films like “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, “Jab We Met” and “Singh Is Kinng”.

“Dil Hai Hindustani 2” will soon premiere on Star Plus.

Indian cinema is in very good hands: Amitabh

Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is delighted to share screen space with actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the upcoming fantasy adventure “Brahmastra”. He says he loves them both and that Indian cinema is in very good hands.

Amitabh on Wednesday night took to Twitter and praised the new age actors and said this generation is “exquisite and impeccable”.

“A joy and an honour and an absolute delight to be in the same frame as Ranbir Kapoor and Alia… first day of shoot for ‘Brahmastra’. This generation is simply exquisite and impeccable. No pictures because cannot release them but I do have them… Many,” he tweeted.

The 75-year-old cine icon wrote on his blog that it is an “absolute joy” being in the company of Alia and Ranbir.

“The ease with which they work and rehearse and comply to the words and needs of the director is a learning for me. I love both and I love the work that they keep putting out year after year. Indian cinema is in very good hands and I can only wish it greater glory!” he added.

The thespian says the thoroughness of the work of the actors and the intensity of the crew and the diligence is remarkable.

Anupam Kher to be feted at IIFA for contribution to Indian cinema

Mumbai– Veteran actor Anupam Kher will be honoured with the Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema Award at the 19th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held in Bangkok this month.

“I am privileged to be a part of our film industry, which has been so generous in the showing of love and warmth upon me. My 34 years of work has helped me achieve great milestones and at a time when actors my age are offered the Life Time Achievement Award, I prefer to ride on another 34 years exploring new and exciting opportunities in Indian and International Cinema,” Anupam said in a statement.

He added: “With every such award comes a sense of responsibility which I promise to be committed to, in our industry and also, as a representative of our country in the international arena.”

Anupam, who has starred in over 500 films including international films, started his career in 1984 with “Saaransh”.

Over his three-decade long journey in Hindi filmdom he has also appeared in many acclaimed international films such as the Golden Globe nominated “Bend It Like Beckham”, Ang Lee’s Golden Lion-winning “Lust”, and David O. Russell’s Oscar-winning “Silver Linings Playbook”.

He has also been honoured with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts.

Ali Fazal to judge short film category at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

New Delhi– Ali Fazal will host the short film category at the 2018 edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) and the actor can’t wait to see “some wonderful works”.

“I am thrilled to be a part of IFFM 2018. This will be my first time at the festival and I am honoured to be on the jury for the short film competition. It’s great to know that we will get to see some wonderful work by talent from across India and filmmakers down under,” Ali, who garnered praises for portraying Abdul opposite Dame Judi Dench’s Queen Victoria in “Victoria and Abdul”, said in a statement.

IFFM, the southern hemisphere’s annual celebration of Indian cinema, will take place from August 10 to August 22 under the unifying theme of ‘Inclusion’.

This year’s festival offers all Australians the opportunity to explore the richness and diversity of contemporary Indian cinema, from Bollywood box-office hits, documentaries and art-house premieres, to a Bollywood dance competition and master classes with key figures from the Indian film industry.
