Aakhri Sawal Trailer Sparks Debate With Political and Historical Themes
Sanjay Dutt-led film explores controversial chapters of modern Indian history and promises a provocative courtroom-style narrative

MUMBAI — The trailer for Aakhri Sawal was released Friday, immediately drawing attention for its bold exploration of some of India’s most controversial political and historical events.
Headlined by Sanjay Dutt, the film appears to delve into alleged conspiracies, unanswered political questions, and debates surrounding organizations and events that have shaped modern India. The trailer references subjects including the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the demolition of the Babri Masjid demolition, and the The Emergency.
The preview features Sanjay Dutt delivering intense monologues and confrontational dialogue as the narrative examines allegations and questions linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The film also stars Sameera Reddy, Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh, Nitu Chandra, and Tridha Choudhury.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the movie is presented by Nikhil Nanda and produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, alongside co-producers Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand.
Apart from its politically charged subject matter, Aakhri Sawal is also being promoted for its accessibility efforts. According to the filmmakers, it will become the first Hindi film to release with integrated Indian Sign Language (ISL) support for audiences with hearing disabilities, while also aiming to improve accessibility for visually impaired viewers.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 15, 2026, in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.
