ANDOVER, MA— A Future For Every Child (AFEC), a nonprofit committed to empowering youth aging out of orphanages in India, is inviting the community to an unforgettable evening of music, dance, and purpose on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Chinmaya Mission in Andover, MA.
The centerpiece of the evening is “Ragamala Alive!” — a multimedia performance that brings centuries-old Ragamala paintings from the Mughal period to life through a unique blend of jazz, Indian classical dance, and visual art.
A Living Gallery of Music and Dance
The performance features Natraj, Boston’s world-jazz ensemble known for their fusion of Indian ragas and African rhythms, and Jayshree Bala Rajamani, a Bharatanatyam dancer, whose expressive storytelling elevates the ancient art form into a contemporary narrative.
Together, they reinterpret traditional Ragamala miniature paintings — intricate artworks that symbolically depict musical moods and seasons — with a modern twist. The result is a powerful, emotionally rich experience described as “awe-striking… adventurous… deeply poetic” by critics.
A Cause That Resonates
The event supports A Future For Every Child (AFEC), which addresses a critical but often overlooked issue: the 50,000+ young people who age out of institutional care in India every year. These youth — many from orphanages or state-run care homes — are left to fend for themselves at age 18, with minimal support and little access to education, housing, or jobs.
AFEC provides these youth with mentoring, career training, and essential life skills to ensure they transition successfully to independent adulthood.
“This isn’t just a concert — it’s a celebration of resilience and possibility,” said an AFEC spokesperson. “Through art, we’re building a future for young people who deserve every opportunity to thrive.”
