Abhijeet Sawant Plans ‘90’s Band’ to Bring Back Nostalgia of 1990s Music

Mumbai — Singer Abhijeet Sawant is preparing to revisit the music of the 1990s with a new project called “90’s Band,” aimed at introducing audiences to the enduring appeal of songs from the decade.
The former “Indian Idol” winner said the concept reflects his appreciation for older music and his desire to recreate the experience of listening to popular songs from the era.
“Songs from the 90s are still loved by everyone. The idea behind this is to bring a musical gathering of these songs through this 90s band,” Sawant said in a statement.
Although details about the band’s lineup, performances and official launch have not yet been announced, Sawant indicated that the project would celebrate the musical style and nostalgia associated with the 1990s.
The singer said that despite experimenting with different musical styles throughout his career, he continues to find something distinctive about songs from earlier decades.
“While singing songs in different forms today, I realize the fun of old songs is something else, and that’s why I want to take the audience back to the 90s era once again, and this is what the audience should experience through 90’s Band,” he said.
The proposed project is expected to appeal to longtime fans of 1990s music while potentially introducing younger listeners to songs that remain popular decades after their original release.
Meanwhile, Sawant has also returned to the television show that launched his career.
The singer is appearing alongside fellow former contestants in “Indian Idol Legends Return,” marking a reunion with the singing competition more than two decades after his breakthrough.
Sawant rose to national prominence as the winner of the first season of “Indian Idol,” establishing himself as one of the show’s earliest success stories.
Following his victory, he released his debut solo album, “Aapka Abhijeet Sawant,” in 2005.
The same year, he entered Bollywood playback singing with the song “Mar Jaawan Mit Jaawan” from the film “Aashiq Banaya Aapne.”
He followed his debut album with “Junoon” in 2007 and released his third studio album, “Farida,” in 2013.
Sawant has also explored acting during his career. He made his film debut in the 2009 movie “Lottery” and later appeared briefly in “Tees Maar Khan.”
His television appearances include roles as himself in the romantic drama “Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai” and the crime series “C.I.D.”
With his return to “Indian Idol” and plans for “90’s Band,” Sawant is drawing on the nostalgia of earlier musical eras while continuing to explore new projects.
Further details about the band’s launch and upcoming performances are expected to be announced later. (Source: IANS)
