Sameera Reddy Reflects on Body Positivity Journey From Insecurity to Confidence

MUMBAI — Indian actress Sameera Reddy has opened up about her journey toward body positivity, revealing how she went from feeling deeply insecure about her appearance in 2009 to embracing her body with confidence in 2026.

In a recent Instagram post, the actress reflected on the changes in her mindset over the years, saying her motivation to stay fit now comes from personal well-being rather than seeking approval from others.

“Super insecure in 2009. Super confident in 2026! What’s changed? Thought process, loving my body. Wanting to stay fit and be motivated for myself and not for others!” Reddy wrote.

The actress, known for her roles in films such as “Musafir” and “De Dana Dan,” said she has learned to accept the physical changes that come with age and motherhood instead of trying to regain her pre-pregnancy appearance.

“Embracing every stage. Every age. Im not obsessed with my pre pregnancy body. I welcome and accept a new version of my body now. And that gives me the freedom to be myself and is also where my confidence comes from today,” she added.

Reddy has frequently used her social media platforms to promote self-acceptance and challenge unrealistic beauty standards, particularly those affecting women during different stages of their lives.

In September, she shared another message encouraging people to appreciate their bodies regardless of how others describe or judge their appearance.

The actress posted a video featuring words such as “plumpy,” “thicc,” “curvy,” “chubby,” “healthy,” “chunky” and “golu,” highlighting descriptions of body types that are often viewed negatively.

Accompanying the video, Reddy wrote, “Whether you are a well-known personality, a young teen finding her way, a new mama, a woman seen year of judgement .. or just a person who needs to hear this – Your body listens and needs you to love it back irrespective of anything anyone has to say.”

She also described words such as “curvy,” “beautiful” and “luscious” as positive expressions of body acceptance.

Through her recent posts, Reddy has emphasized that confidence comes from embracing personal changes rather than comparing one’s appearance with past expectations or external beauty standards.

Her latest reflection highlights how her approach to fitness, motherhood and self-image has evolved over nearly two decades, with self-acceptance now central to her outlook. (Source: IANS)
