Amelia Singh Named Chief Guest for INDIA New England News’ 2026 20 Under 20 Awards

BOSTON — Amelia Singh, Deputy Chief of District and Municipal Courts at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the recipient of the 2026 Woman of the Year Award, will serve as the Chief Guest at the 2026 INDIA New England News 20 Under 20 Awards, where the region’s most accomplished young South Asian leaders will be recognized for their achievements in academics, leadership, entrepreneurship, the arts and community service.

Hosted by Jharna Madan, the annual breakfast awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, from 9:30 am to noon at the Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Madan said Singh’s career of public service and principled leadership makes her an ideal role model for this year’s honorees.

“Our Chief Guest, Amelia Singh, embodies the very spirit of purpose-driven leadership,” Madan said. “Her extraordinary journey, from breaking barriers in public service to being recognized as the 2026 Woman of the Year, is a testament to what passion, perseverance, and integrity can achieve. For our 20 Under 20 honorees, there could not be a more fitting role model.”

Singh currently serves as Deputy Chief of District and Municipal Courts at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where she oversees approximately 50 prosecutors while helping lead one of Massachusetts’ busiest prosecutorial divisions. Since joining the office in 2019, she has earned a reputation for balancing accountability with fairness while navigating some of the criminal justice system’s most challenging cases.

In October 2024, Singh was promoted to Deputy Chief of District Courts, assuming responsibility for district court operations across Suffolk County. During the county’s unprecedented attorney work stoppage, she played a key leadership role in managing cases and court proceedings during what she described as a public safety crisis.

Beyond her courtroom responsibilities, Singh founded and chairs the Suffolk County Animal Cruelty Taskforce, bringing together prosecutors, law enforcement, veterinarians and animal welfare organizations to strengthen the investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty cases. The initiative reflects a lifelong commitment to protecting animals while advancing public safety.

Earlier this year, Singh was named INDIA New England News’ 2026 Woman of the Year, one of the organization’s highest honors. She received the award at the 23rd Annual Woman of the Year Awards Gala, attended by more than 400 business leaders, professionals and community members. Singh was selected by an independent panel of seven judges after evaluating nominees on professional achievement, leadership and community impact.

Reflecting on her work as a prosecutor, Singh has said that “the greatest sense of meaning and joy comes from using that discretion thoughtfully and seeing the tangible impact.” She has also described resilience as something that “is not performative. It is practiced,” a philosophy that has guided her career in public service.

The annual INDIA New England News 20 Under 20 Awards recognizes exceptional young South Asians who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence, leadership, entrepreneurship, community service and accomplishments in areas including science, technology, writing, music, athletics and the arts. Winners are selected based on their achievements, extracurricular involvement, entrepreneurial initiatives and commitment to serving their communities.

The Aug. 2 ceremony will bring together students, families, educators, business leaders and community members from across New England to celebrate this year’s 20 Under 20 Stars and the next generation of South Asian leaders.
