Vision-Aid to Hold Annual Benefit Performance July 26 in Andover to Support Programs for the Visually Impaired
Proceeds from the July 26 performance will help fund Vision-Aid's programs in vision care, assistive technology, education, and career development for people with visual impairments.
ANDOVER, MA — Vision-Aid, a Lexington, Massachusetts-based nonprofit that provides rehabilitation, education, and assistive technology services to people with visual impairments in India, will hold its annual benefit performance on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Collins Center for the Performing Arts in Andover.
The event serves as the organization’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting programs that provide vision rehabilitation, educational services, assistive technologies, and employment opportunities for visually impaired individuals across India.
Founded in 2004, Vision-Aid operates through partnerships with leading eye hospitals, educational institutions, and rehabilitation centers in India. According to the organization, its programs currently reach more than 100,000 beneficiaries annually through more than 75 locations across the country.
Vision-Aid works with institutions including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Sankara Nethralaya, Aravind Eye Hospitals, Christian Medical College Vellore, and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital.
The nonprofit provides a range of services, including low-vision rehabilitation, assistive technology training, educational programs, and career development initiatives. Among the technologies used are smart vision glasses, portable digital magnifiers, smartphones, and Braille-based learning materials.

Its educational curriculum includes training in spoken English, computer applications, mobile technology, Braille, Python programming, artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, and Digital Accessibility Testing (DAT).
The organization also supports job placement and career development initiatives for visually impaired individuals. According to Vision-Aid, graduates of its programs have secured employment with companies including Microsoft and Infosys. The organization additionally operates Digital Accessibility Testing and AI-related service centers staffed by visually impaired professionals.
Vision-Aid has also expanded services for children with Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI), a neurological condition in which the brain has difficulty processing visual information received through the eyes. The organization operates CVI centers in partnership with eye care institutions across India, providing therapy and rehabilitation services designed to help affected children develop functional skills and continue their education.

This year’s benefit performance, titled “Brothers in Arms: The Lions of Sivaganga,” is a dance production based on the lives of the Marudhu Brothers and Queen Velu Nachiar, historical figures associated with resistance to British colonial rule in South India.
According to organizers, the production is presented through the perspective of a British colonel reflecting on the events of that period. The performance incorporates Kathak, Bharatanatyam, ballroom dance, and South Indian folk dance traditions, accompanied by English narration and supertitles.
The production was conceived and choreographed by Kalaimamani Madurai R. Muralidaran of Chennai. New England artistic directors Jeyanthi Ghatraju and Sripriya Natarajan Moorthy are leading a volunteer cast and crew of more than 60 performers.
Last year’s Vision-Aid benefit production, Shakuntala — The Legend of the Lost Ring, attracted more than 1,000 attendees at the Collins Center.
A preview video for this year’s production is available on Vision-Aid’s event website and YouTube channel.
