Surtaal Entertainment Brings Qawwali Duo Zain Zohaib to Boston as Part of 2026 U.S. Tour
Berklee Performance Center Concert Aims to Connect Younger Audiences with South Asian Musical Traditions
BOSTON — Surtaal Entertainment USA is bringing acclaimed Pakistani qawwali duo Zain Zohaib to Boston on May 21 as part of an eight-city U.S. tour designed to celebrate South Asian musical traditions and connect younger generations with qawwali and Sufi music.
The Boston performance, titled Qawwali Night, will take place at the Berklee Performance Center and is expected to draw members of the South Asian community, including students, music enthusiasts, and cultural organizations from across the region.
According to organizers, the 2026 tour follows a strong response to previous Zain Zohaib performances across North America, particularly among South Asian student communities. This year’s expanded tour will include stops in Boston, Long Island, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, Houston, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
Founded in 2019, Surtaal Entertainment USA describes its mission as promoting South Asian arts, culture, and live music experiences across North America through concerts, cultural showcases, and artist collaborations.
Organizers say the events are intended to go beyond traditional concerts by creating spaces where South Asian communities can come together through shared cultural experiences.
“These events go beyond live music,” organizers said. “We believe music has no boundaries. The goal is to bring the South Asian community together and keep traditional forms like qawwali alive and accessible for younger audiences.”
Qawwali, a centuries-old form of devotional Sufi music rooted in the Indian subcontinent, has experienced renewed global interest in recent years, particularly among younger listeners exploring South Asian heritage through music and live performances.
The Zain Zohaib U.S. tour is part of a broader effort by South Asian entertainment organizations to create larger platforms for traditional and contemporary South Asian artists in North America.
