Vaishali Agarwal Unveils ‘Baakul’ Collection at Fashion Week, Featuring Alaya F as Showstopper

MUMBAI, India — Hyderabad-based fashion designer Vaishali Agarwal presented her latest collection, “Baakul,” at Fashion Week, blending heritage, spirituality, and contemporary craftsmanship in a runway showcase.

Inspired by the sacred Baakul flower, traditionally offered to Lord Shiva, the collection explores themes of purity, devotion, and transformation. Drawing from the cosmic rhythm of Nataraja, the collection translates sacred symbolism into a modern visual language defined by movement, emotion, and elegance.

“Baakul” reinterprets traditional motifs such as Nandi and the fish of Ganga through intricate dhabka embroidery, gota appliqué, handcrafted florals, and dori jackets. Fluid silhouettes, metallic accents, and layered textures lend the collection a contemporary edge while maintaining strong cultural roots, positioning it as both bridal and occasion wear.

Actress Alaya F closed the showcase as the showstopper, wearing a statement ensemble from the collection and adding a modern dimension to the presentation.

“Baakul is deeply personal to me; it reflects my connection with spirituality, symbolism, and the enduring beauty of our traditions. Through this collection, I wanted to celebrate the rhythm of creation and transformation while presenting craftsmanship in a way that feels relevant to the modern bride. It is about honouring heritage while allowing it to evolve with grace and confidence,” Agarwal said.

The showcase also featured Shivasa Fine Jewellery, founded by Sandhya Agarwal, which complemented the collection with designs incorporating polkis, gemstones, and diamonds. The jewellery line emphasizes craftsmanship and legacy, with pieces designed as heirlooms for both intimate and large-scale occasions.

Together, the “Baakul” collection and Shivasa Fine Jewellery presented a unified vision of bridal and occasion wear, centered on symbolism, craftsmanship, and timeless design.

The unveiling of “Baakul” marks a new milestone for Vaishali Agarwal as she continues to merge traditional influences with contemporary couture.
